Calling all April Bandsters!!!!

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies. I hope everybody is having a great week. It's TOM for me, so no scale for a few more days! Only 5 pounds to go for my Valentine's Day goal. How is everybody else doing? Started back to the gym this week - yikes my triceps are killing me. Trying to get rid of the "waddle" when I wave my arms.:sneaky:

I apologize in advance if this is too wordy, want to make sure I give enough info.

When I had my surgery in Mexico, I met a great lady from San Fran who had her surgery the same day I did. Since the nursing staff didn't speak English, we became fast friends. We emailed a few times then lost contact with each other. Cleaning out my desk (year end motivates me!) I came across her info. Long story short, we chatted for over an hour yesterday. She has had a miserable time since about 2 months after the surgery. She's had to get totally unfilled twice. She's travelled to Mexico to get filled under fluor a few times, as well as getting filled in San Fran. After getting a total unfill in November, she just got a fill a few days ago. She feels pretty good about this fill, but wonders if she should go back and get a bit more put it.

She is a lawyer, so from time to time her job gets very stressful. She has noticed a correlation between needing an unfill and her stress level. I recommended staying where she is now with her fill until she gets in to a stressful situation.

I know a few of you have had to get unfills, sometimes a complete unfill. Do you have any advice for her? I told her about this great group of ladies and hope she'll at least lurk for awhile before joining our group. Between plane tickets to Mexico and the cost of the fills in the US, she's spent an additional $3k or so just on fills. She's lost a total of 35 pounds and is beyond frustrated.

Any advice or help is greatttttttly appreciated! Thanks so much.

Well I haven't had a total unfill thankfully. But I would recommend that she sit on her fill longer to see if when the stress hits what the tightness level is. I have to do that with each fill and TOM... Cause TOM makes me super tight and I go to mushies.

I haven't been on the April thread lately sorry :sneaky: I am too busy giving grandmas a hard time in the lounge on here (Long story and joking)

I lost another pound this morning! 194 for me now I am super happy and 4 pounds from Vday goal.

Cubs Girl - I agree with Brandy that your friend should wait a little while before getting a fill.

Woot!! Great weight loss skinny!!

No wine???

Say is aint so!! Cry_emote_by_terbeag.gif But since it works for your weight loss it is a necessary evil.

I have been doing ok. Down to 200.5 this morning. We to the gym Sunday, Tue. and Wed. this week. Two days did the elliptical for 30 or 45 minutes. Last night I took an hour long Water aerobics class. Someday I hope to be in Onderland!! Good gravy my body is fighting me on leaving Twoville!!!

HI EVERYONE!!!

How is everybody? Haven't seen too many posts...hope all is well.

I started my new job and I'm loving it so far. I am so excited to get out of scrubs and wear "people clothes" as they say in the world of nursing. I am having a tough time with shopping though. I'm frustrated. I'm in between sizes and can't seem to find much that looks nice and reasonably priced. I'm sure you all can relate that I don't want to spend a lot of money on clothing when I'm constantly changing.

Now don't get me wrong...it's a good problem to have but not when you really gotta have nice stuff to wear.

I'm down a few more pounds. Not drinking enough Water, so I've really got to pay attention to that.

Congrats on Onederland CC!

~C

Congrats Colorado! What a great feeling.

Is your daughter doing well? I remember the first few weeks after surgery I wondered if I made the right choice. How lucky she is to have your success in front of her!

Turler - I've been shopping at second hand stores for about one month now. The stores in my area put out new clothes on Tuesday, so I tend to take a long lunch on Tuesday and check it out. I've been able to find nice dress shirts and sweaters, but the pants and sweaters tend to be well used so I don't get them. I've picked up about 10 - 12 sweaters/shirts and only spent around $35. I'm also right in between sizes. Size 12 pants hang on me and size 10 seems to be too tight. I think I have to get used to wearing clothes that fit, instead of clothes that are too big hoping to hide my bulges.

I'm down two more pounds. My scale isn't electronic, so I tend to lose two pounds at a time, since I can't really tell when it only moves one pound. Even with my contacts I can't see that well! I'm 8 pounds from my original goal, but I'm going to adjust that goal another 10 pounds. So, 18 pounds to go. My bandiversary is April 11. Hopefully will be within 5 pounds of my new goal by then.

How is everybody doing goal wise? Have a great week! My new rule is one glass of Water for every glass of something else I drink (tea, Propel, coffee, etc). It's only been two days and I'm already struggling. It's so hard for me to drink water during the winter, but I'm going to do it this time!

I feel ya CC getting that Water in has to be the hardest for me when it comes to winter time. I drink lots of hot teas and such. But in the summer I flood myself with water :)

I am nowhere near my goal atm. That is ok I feel good with what I have lost. I would like to lose 90 by my anniversary I think that's doable even though my weight has seemed to slow alot thats only about 4 lbs a month.

I am between sizes on alot of thing too. I am a clearance shopper though I love it. I don't know what styles you like but I just bought 5 pairs of capris and 4 shirts for $30 at Old navy's clearance sale this weekend.. They have an extra 50% off the lowest price. I was getting capris for $2 bucks was crazy :wink5:

Colorado how is your daughter? I checked your blog and haven't seen an update. Does she have her own blog? I could add her to mine.

I am a bloggin junkie.

Brandy - you've done such a great job! With over two months to our bandiversary, I know you'll make it since you're so close.

When my weight loss slowed down, Bea let me know about the BMR formula. In the past few weeks, I've gotten back to losing 2 pounds per week just by following the formula. What a nice plateau breaker!

Thanks for the info on Old Navy. I'll stop by there on my way home tonight. I still have to change my mind set regarding shopping at the mall. I'm so used to only hitting Lane Bryant that I don't think of the other stores. What a great feeling!

Hey! Don't know if all of you guys have a Target store near you, but yesterday I bought several outfits for around $50. They were having an amazing sale. I bought the nicest dress for $7!! Granted it doesn't fit yet, but it will and for $7 it's worth it. Kohl's was also having a great sale this past weekend. It's rare to come across nice clothes at that much of a discount, so I took advantage. Especially since I could buy clothes that don't quite fit yet really cheap.

I am also struggling to stay adequately hydrated. I noticed yesterday that my skin looks dry and wrinkly. I know it's from not drinking enough Water. I've got to do better. I'm also loosing so slow now, probably doesn't help not drinking enough.

Congrats Colorado! It feels great doesn't it?

Have a great week everyone. I start nursing school tomorrow. YIKES! So, ready to get going!

I love Target. We don't have one, but there is one in San Antonio which is only about a 45 minute drive. They have great clothes and very affordable. I also shop off Ebay. I'll try to buy multiple pants or something from one buyer to combine shipping. Saves money. And right now all the department stores are having huge sales, at least down here. 75% off... I love to shop for bargains. And when I only spend $11 on pants, I don't feel so bad if they are too big after I've worn them a few times.

I'm grouchy this morning. We live on a college campus and they are building a new residence hall right across the driveway from our hall. They started pouring concrete at 4:00 am. I just don't see any logical reason for that. I am not good when I don't get enough sleep. DH and DD slept through all of it. I got caught up on the Bachelor... Thank God for DVR.

Now I'll grump through the day until I can get back into my nice comfy bed tonight. However, my day won't end until at least 9:00 pm. Meetings tonight... Lovely! I love my job, I love my job, I love my job. There are days when I have to remind myself of that. Today is one of those days.

Hope everyone else has a great day.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
