I am good at sharing... I accidently forgot where I put the lysol or the antibacterial wipes. I must have misplaced them.

HA! You crack me up. Serves them right for wanting you to be there when you have the flu... I mean, a cold is one thing, but the flu is highly contagious... Idiots!

Hi all and hope everyone is doing well. I have a question about dailyplate.com

I haven't been logging cause I was being bad.. Drinking far too many caloric drinks aka wine haha. I quit and haven't touched it since New Years... Oddly enough I dumped 3 lbs after that haha... so that's an incentive.

I was trying to get back in the swing of updating my stuff on dailyplate. I checked the fitness section just to see what my daily routine burns even though it's just Office work, house work, cooking, short dog walk, then vegetating lol.

So I started with looking up Office work... Supposeably for LIGHT OFFICE work I would burn 188 calories per hour? I mean come on.. I freaking work 10+ hours a day. I would wither away instead of having a pound or 2 here and there.

Maybe I should get the bugg and see if it's the same but I dunno about wearing that thing on my arm all the time.

EDITED: Think I will post this in the general too and see what they are using to find the daily caloric output.

Keep in mind that on dailyplate normal, everyday people are entering those numbers. There's even one for worship, like going to church. LOL!

You could figure out what your basal metabolic rate (BMR) is and then go from there. Your BMR figures the calories you burn at your weight, height, and age just by being alive.

Women: BMR = 655 + ( 4.35 x weight in pounds ) + ( 4.7 x height in inches ) - ( 4.7 x age in years )

Then if you wanted you could use the following formula to determine how many calories you should take in to maintain your current weight. Then subtract 500 calories per pound of weight you would like to loose per week. So for example if you want to loose 2 pounds per week, you would subtract 1000 calories. Keeping in mind that you shouldn't subtract more than a 1000 calories from your maitenance number simply because it isn't healthy.

Harris Benedict FormulaTo determine your total daily calorie needs, multiply your BMR by the appropriate activity factor, as follows:

  1. If you are sedentary (little or no exercise) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.2
  2. If you are lightly active (light exercise/sports 1-3 days/week) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.375
  3. If you are moderatetely active (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/week) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.55
  4. If you are very active (hard exercise/sports 6-7 days a week) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.725
  5. If you are extra active (very hard exercise/sports & physical job or 2x training) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.9

So, long story short....you could probably then take the numbers you get and figure out what you burn per day at work give or take a few calories. I don't know if this helps or not or if this is way too much info.

Dear Bea,

Thanks for all the info - not too much for me!! If I did everything correctly, it looks like I'll consume 1942 calories per day once I'm ready to maintain my weight. In the meantime, I'll consume between 942 - 1442 per day to lost 1 to 2 pounds per week. Does that sound about right to you?

After carefully monitoring my calories and food intake for so long now (okay, I suppose 8 months really isn't that long in the big scheme of things!), I can't imagine getting in 1900 calories per day. I guess I'll go back to Protein Shakes when the time is right.

Brandy - I'm not familiar with the arm band you mentioned. I see people on the Biggest Loser wearing one and wondered how much it helps. I'll check out the general forum you mentioned.

Thanks to everybody for posting their victories as well as problems. It helps so much! Have a wonderful Wednesday.

No prob! I'm glad it helped. Sometimes I'm afraid I come across as weird and wordy. I don't mean to be, I just like to help if I can.

Believe it or not, once upon a time, I was a nutrition major. Once I get my nursing degree I hope to do something in that area where I can teach or educate. I love nutrition. I should I've spent most of my life worrying about it one way or another! LOL!

Cubs - That's probably about right depending on your weight, height, and age. Mine is around 1200, but I still have some to loose. Keep in mind that this is just an estimate and it's based largely on weight/height ratio like BMI. And just like BMI, it doesn't take into account your lean muscle mass, etc. If you fill your diet with fruits and veggies, lean Protein, low fat dairy, and whole grains it'll probably be hard to get in 1900 calories. As long as you are eating a well balanced diet I wouldn't worry too much about it. Of course you don't want to loose too much. At that point, I would talk to your doc to see what you need to do if you keep loosing below your goal weight. Also, if you up your activity level, don't forget to adjust for that.

Hope you are all having a great day!!

I hit the 170's today!! I am so excited. I am only 3 pounds away from weighing less than my husband! That's been a secret goal of mine for awhile now. He has no idea what I actually weigh so I can't share with him.

Onward and downward!

Congrats on getting in the 170s!! You're doing awesome!

haha That's a goal I have to. But my DH knows what I weigh and Knows I am trying to pass him up lol.

I didn't use to tell him but one day I was so excited that I lose a certain amount I blurted out my weight. So now I have a calendar in the bathroom and write my weight down everyday on it. He looks at it and congratulates me each time he sees a loss. He also is the one that measures me hehe.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
