Ok to its amazing how the right information at the right time can change anything... i just ended a very intense relationship and was sulking about that then the hospital calls and they want to move my surgury date up to now... 8-25 to be exact... barely gives me time to get my work situation situated but ... danm if its not a relief i mean the wait is friggen over finally.

not not really as nervous as i was before then...

thank God something is going my way

Banded on Thursday and so far so good. I going to go to the mall with the wife and get some walking in. Not too much, but I can't sit still any longer. I've also pretty much stopped the Hydrocodone (I'll probably use some tonight to help me be able to sleep).

But I do have a question for you band-veterans. I keep getting this feeling in my throat/top-middle-of-my-chest like I need to burp, but nothing will come up. Is this normal? If so, what in the world is it?

To DWRD and Watcher, hang in there guys. Its really not that bad. I think the worst part of the surgery day was right after the surgery and they wouldn't give me but four ounces of ice chips. Thankfully I was still kinda sleepy so I slept most of the post-op time.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
