O.K., Bright, I'm looking at my trusty Benefiber bottle now. I have the unflavored dissolvable powder. It is tasteless and mixes into anything..food or drink, hot or cold.

It says...Benefiber Fiber Supplement (from ex-lax corp.). Use 1 1/2 to 3 tablespoons per day. It is a plant fiber (derived from guar gum)..a natural fiber. It is manufactured by Novartis.

They even have a website www.benefiber.com and 800# 1-800-452-0051

So now you can order you a case of it. LOL

Good ole' Marie to the rescue... thanks for that info! I wonder how many grams of fiber are in a handful of mini-wheats?

Kaleigh, Ive been chewing 2 before my protien shake in the morning.

Becareful, too many too quickly may cause stomach trouble! Gradually increase.

just tried EVERYWHERE in my local mall - including two health food shops and they were baffled at the idea of a fibre supplement!!! Just eat bran, they told me!!! Gee thanks! They only had "Beneflora" which is a probiotic thing so no luck! I'll try Dublin city at the weekend! sigh!

I usually only take 1-2 per day. Depends on if I ate any fiber that day. Some days I don't take them at all.

Paula, the frosted shredded wheat box is showing:

1 cup of shredded wheat has 5 grams of fiber.

Just watch about drinking a lot of Water shortly after you eat the dry Cereal....it expands. LOL

Bought some of the Benefiber chewables last night, Orange flavor, tried one and it was not to bad. Will try and take 1 daily for a while and then maybe increase.

So 1 cup of mini wheat thins has 5 gm's of fiber - and the benefiber chewables has 1 gm per tablet. (recommended dosage is 3 at a time)

hmmmmmm......

The mini wheat thins may be the better choice here (certainly less money)

I got my Benefiber tablets today and just took 2 of them. They have a nice orangy flavor, but a weird texture. But for 6 grams of soluble fiber in 2, I'll get past the texture. :(

Kellygirl, my bottle says that the serving size is 3 tablets and 3 grams of fiber per serving(not per tablet). So, for me, that means each tablet is 1 gram of fiber.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
