My medical clearance is my last step before pre=op... I had to see cardiology, pulmonology, gastroenterology, psychology, have 6 months doctor regulated weight loss all before that point....now waiting for insurance clearance....crossing my fingers all clears through for surgery date of 3/19. I am told all they do is go over all the lab work, and other test done by each doctor.....

i did the psychology and my insurance had an option, do 1 yr with the dr or 3 months with the LB dr, so i opted for that. like i said i did the psych, so i guess all the other things u mentioned just need to be done. thats done with one dr right? bc they just told me to go see him and get clearance and have it sent 1 week before which is next thursday and my dr appointment is the day before on wednesday, so i would guess im only going to him, not enough time to see others ya kno? i just want this to be done and the 13th to be here hahaha.

my fingers are crossed to for u and the approval, mine only took a week and a half to approve, how long have u been waiting, hope its fast like mine. good luck and thanks for the feedback. :rolleyes2:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
