March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Recommended Posts

Fenton you make me laugh everytime I read this thing. I haven't posted in a while but I read regularly. I have had one fill 2cc in a 4cc band. I feel restriction and really have to watch myself to slow down and take time between bites. After eating fast for so many years if I don't concentrate on what I am doing I get stuck. It's pretty hard if I am with friends or hubby and I are out to dinner. So far I have only had to head for the bathroom once while we were out. I am losing about 1-3 pounds a week and that makes me happy. I don't really know if I am full when I eat or just satisfied. I eat much less than before but my hubby thinks I still eat more than he thought I would. I think that is his problem, LOL. I think I am doing great. I've lost 30.5 pounds so far including the weight before surgery. Everybody who posts seems to be doing well also. We all will be success stories soon.

Hello March people, I have been MIA for a few weeks and have been catching up on readin all the post today. Everyone has accomplished so much, either weight loss or loose clothing. I have gained 1.50 since on vacation but will loose it when I get back into the exercise habit. My 1st fill is scheduled for 6/06 and I need it bad!!! I did not want to receive it before vacation because I wanted to experience everything while in Hawaii. Poi (sp) sucks!!! Harley, I had a few Mia Tia's and did the hula in a grass skirt!!! You would have been proud! In my frame of mind I did a damn good job!! Glad to be back home and getting back on track.

I love mushy salmon, you use only small amt.of Water and different spices with thinly sliced potatoe boil it all together it's delicious especially if you can have dumplings with it.Have not tried them since banding. The water taste much like a fish chowder or fish stew.

Kathy I love your positive atitude, you will be a success for sure. The power of positive thinking.

Mylah, I'm sure it's tasty, but I'm actually not a salmon fan. Unless, of course, it's smoked or cured, and accompanied by a robust supporting cast that includes Bagels, cream cheese, capers and chopped Bermuda onions...

Kathy, whatever you're eating it seems to be the right thing, because you're losing at a really great rate.

And I think busy makes an excellent point: the people who are posting are people who'll definitely lose. I think if you're still reading, still thinking about this stuff, you're still in the game, still involved in the weight loss experience. Sure, lbt is great for inspiration and information, but I think it's most useful feature is that we can INTERACT, check up on each other, goad each other on, wail when it's not going right - anything to keep us focused on what we're doing. So keep posting!

And busy, I have to say that for me the best thing about going to Hawaii would be an opportunity to turn to someone at dinner and proffer a heaping bowl of mashed root vegetables and say, "More poi?"

I swear to God, I've been wanting to say "More poi???" for a LONG time now. I'm participating in a writers conference in Hawaii next year, so my wish will finally come true.

I go for my 2nd fill next week. The little bit of restriction i was feeling from my first fill seems to be lessening.

You may have it all. It was purple and nasty!! Also, bewear of sand fleas. They saw this red head coming and rang the dinner bell!! We rented a bright yellow dune buggy and drove up the coast. It was beautiful. We looked like Scooby Do, Shaggy, Fred and Velma. The buggy had no doors so we had to crawl in and out like a race car and us hauling our frames in and out of that buggy was hysterical. I have to think of it this way, 6 months ago my frame would not have fit in that buggy much less me hauling myself into the seat. I think that is an accomplishment!!!

It's so true what Busy says about being able to accomplish more physical stuff. I have always wanted to kayak, but have been afraid I would get stuck in that little hole in the boat and not be able to get out. Now I know I will one day kayak....without the fear of getting stuck. I also would love to ski again. Now I know I will be up there on the slopes having a blast without worry of flopping around like a fish out of Water trying to get my footing to get up.

We are all on our way!

Christine.....kayaking is on my "someday I will" list, too!

We live literally BLOCKS away from a kayak launch on the river. It's been built up with great riff....probably just class 1 rapids, but I'd sure like to try it! We walk down there a lot and watch them play, it looks like fun!

We're headed to the ZOO today.....there's a new baby giraffe and some new baby monkeys. I haven't been to the zoo in YEARS, so I'm looking forward to a lovely spring day with my daughter and a bunch of stinky animals!!!!

Hi all, I haven't posted for awhile so thought I'd better jump in here so I'll be accountable for myself while on vacation next week. I've been playing with a pound back and forth the last 2 to 3 weeks and I'm hoping that I won't gain anything while in Nashville next week. We leave tomorrow and I won't be home til June 9 so the temptations will certainly be there. I've had 2 fills now and still feel a little restriction but I'm already looking forward to my 3rd fill on June 16 after we're back from vacation. I'm glad to see everyone is doing well. Keep up the good work.

Hi everyone!

I had a 2nd fill on Wednesday. I'm in the mushies stage again. I seem to actually have some restriction! Yeah, I hope it lasts!

For all the folks who have had a tough time, don't worry keep going. I am a poster child for "struggling". Don't be so tough on yourselves. We have a lot of very wonderful people on here who have done an awesome job. I wouldn't compare yourself. If you feel bad, go to the slow loosers board. There are folks there who haven't lost 10 pounds in a year!

I hope that with the fill the scale will move again.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Teri! Nice to see you again! You've been doing great!

I think another temptation with your Nashville trip (aside from, let's be frank, the INCREDIBLE barbecue) might be this idea that "Hey, I'm getting another fill when I get home, so, why not..." etc etc. It would be for me so, AVOID that! We know where your scale lives now - we need you back here on the 10th - impress us with your ability to lose weight, even on a vacation!

You know you can do it. You'll be walking a lot - I say you'll be down 2 lbs come the 10th. But you could probably beat that if you tried...

I'm off to the beaches in Florida June 13-21 and I plan to walk and walk and walk some more on the beach. I get a 2nd fill on June 10th and I hope in those 3 days to be back on real food but feeling some more restriction than I have now. I'm fighting daily to stay around 1200 calories and right after a fill I'm able to stay closer to 800 calories so I'm with the other lady who said what restriction I felt after fill #1 has eased off. I'm ready for more saline..fill er up!

I'm ready for a good book and a beach chair followed by a nap, then shopping, then watching sunset on the beach!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
