March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Recommended Posts

Hopeinapril - my WL has been like yours. Mine is finally starting to kick in!! I have been thrilled with it! I always show a loss when I go to the doctor, small ones, but it is better than gaining!! I started exercising too which helps and I feel better!!

I plan to receive my 2nd fill a week from this Friday. I hope after that my weight loss will kick back in. Right now I fight for every 1/2 lb then gain and lose it several times before I lose it for good.

Hi Shamrocks - I passed my PMP exam for my job today that I was studying for, and stressing over too, and now that is such a relief. I have to just keep up with continuing education to keep it current. Thanks for the well wishes and prayers.

P.S. It is fun seeing some of you adding to the Why we want Fenton back.

Congratulations special K..a load off of your mind I'm sure. Test taking is such a strain for everyone. I've had students who have physically gotten ill when needing to be validated!!!

Harley love the tatoo!!! My daughter has quite a few (much to her father's dismay) but I always applauded her tasteful choices along with her "balls" to get them....I know if I was younger I'd have a few ....

Congratulations SpecialK I know that test meant a lot to you! I am so happy that you made it.

Congratulations HopeinApril! In the beginning of this journey I felt like everyone was passing me by, but once I hit that sweet spot things became so much easier. Congratulations on hitting that point.

Hi All---

I have found that as my weight loss has slowed down -- I'm not losing my hair anymore. And I'm also finding that as the weather here in the Northeast is getting cooler --- I'm FREEZING!! Are other people finding these things to be true too???

You know, they say you shed a lot more hair during the summer, so now that we're past that, I wonder if that's part of the reason it seems less drastic lately. Of course, this would only be true for those of us in the Northern hemisphere, I guess.

That reminds me, where's AnnieDub? I was wondering how she's liking her sassy short hair now that she's had some time with it. I just cut my hair much shorter than it's been in years, and I'm finding it weird. Of course, she's probably too busy flirting with and seducing all the young men in Australia! Am I jealous? Yeah! :rolleyes2:

Speaking of those missing in action, where is BrandNewLisa and NurseNiki?? I loved putting together the list of March Bandsters when it was way over 200 in March 2008 and I'd love to hear from a broader group on how they are doing but even if not, I love this core group since we are all hitting the same snags as well as sharing successes in step with each other.

Hi Shamrocks!

Today I was 249.6 YEAH!!!!!!!! :unsure::biggrin:

Karen - nice to know there are others of us out there. I am so thrilled right now. I finally believe this will work!!

Penny - I have heard that without the fat insulating us that many are colder, quicker. I believe that. I will be thrilled to buy cute sweaters and jackets! Of course, I expect to find a cute guy to cuddle also!

Losing my hair like crazy here! I've thought about going short, but my hair is so curly, it will look crazy for sure!

Congratulations Amanda for making it to the halfway point. I hope to be there by my 6 month point....I have a couple of weeks to get there.

I would love to set a goal for being 60 pounds down by the 24th. Let's see if I can do it.

Hopein April...congrat on getting under 250! I am so happy for you. I love crossing over into a new weigth point. I can't wait to get out of the 230's.

I too miss many of our March Bandsters. If you are out the post an update.

Christine

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
