Hastings 3 Posted July 2, 2008 Fenton, does the 5300 calories include your BMR calories?

Fenton 3 Posted July 2, 2008 (edited) Hastings: yes, it does. The Bodybugg I think guestimates calorie consumption based on its knowledge of your weight (which you enter once a week into a web-based program) and how many steps you've taken. It might be a bit more complicated than that, but that's my guess as to how it works. As I said, I do think that the Bugg overestimates - there's no way I've eaten an AVERAGE of 2650 calories a day over the last month and a half! Although I don't doubt that on some days I hit that number. I think the advantage of the Bodybugg is that I look at my Bodybugg monitor at 6PM and it says "10,000 steps", so I'll think, Hmm... I can do better. And I'll head back out and run errands, and take the long route to push the number up closer to 15,000. Similarly, if it's 8PM and I see I've only burned 3500 calories, I'll hit the road. In the next few weeks, I'll hit a weight that I think is safe for me to start going to the gym and using machines, rather than just walking for exercise. And when that happens: Watch Out!!! scrappy_friend 0 Posted July 2, 2008 Went to my family dr. yesterday I needed a refill on my blood pressure meds he said my blood pressure was on the low side of normal and said to stop taking the pills and see what happens. They have already been cut in half since surgery. He also did blood work and everything was in the normal range. Last time I went sugar was on the higher side and so was cholestrol. Fenton 3 Posted July 2, 2008 Scrappy, that's great! It underlines how weight loss makes you so much more healthy... Mark my words, this surgery is going to be increasingly huge. There have been studies emphasizing how much improvement diabetics can see after lap-banding, and since there's over 50 million US diabetics and pre-diabetics, it's a huge deal. westcoastmom 3 Posted July 2, 2008 Happy 4th to everyone! We will be off sailing for a few days, enjoying some fireworks on the Water. Well, we will enjoy it, I am not too sure our dog will... The family requested that I make brownies. It is a weakness of mine. I hope I can eat just one a day!
HarleyGirl 1 Posted July 2, 2008 Went in for my third adjustment today. My regular doctor was off sick, so I saw her partner. Wasn't happy about the fill without the lidocaine.....it hurt. He said it's over so fast there's no need for the lidocaine.....UH....YES THERE IS. He's right thought, it is over quickly. I can already feel a difference. I stopped and bought a bottle of Propel on the way home.....usually no problem getting one down in fifteen minutes or so......45 minutes later, I still had about 1/4 of the bottle. The substitute doc was very encouraging and positive about my weightloss so far....I was down 7 from my last appointment. Going to a big BBQ for the 4th, but not worried about it. It's the same crew we went to Yellowstone with and they're pretty good about encouraging me to stay the course! Wishing everyone a slim and colorful 4th of July! I do love fireworks!
