bigbaby 4 Posted February 28, 2008 I've seen a couple of post where people are eating hummus spread because it's high in Protein. What is hummas and do you eat it alone, with crackers, as a sandwich or what????????
lisazen 0 Posted February 28, 2008 You might want to talk with our doctors office nutrition person. I was told by mine that hummus has no nutritional value. Good luck!!
Angie4b1g 1 Posted February 28, 2008 It's made from chickpeas and garlic. It's super yummy. You wouldn't eat a bowl of it or anything, just a little bit on crackers. In the old days I ate it on pita bread.< /p>

bigbaby 4 Posted February 28, 2008 liza--Look at ivyrose's posts and click on the words Complete Protein Hummas. It will take you directly to the link. I tried some and it taste pretty good. I did a little research and found that it's high FAT--as well as--protein....so I'll eat it sparingly
travelgirl 3 Posted February 28, 2008 I love hummus, but I only eat it as a snack. If I do have it, I'll have it with maybe 5 triscuit thin crisps (not the regular size ones) dipped in a little hummus for an afternoon snack. The Protein in it holds me until dinner, where if I didn't have something with protein in it, I'd be hungry again maybe an hour later.
bigbaby 4 Posted February 28, 2008 I purchased some from Eatzi's and am eating it with whole wheat crackers from Central Market. I really want to eat it with chips---but I have to refrain from chips--they go through my band extremely WELL--I will eat the entire bag--if I bring them in the house--they call my name!!!! citygirl4616 2 Posted February 29, 2008 I like making my own hummus. It is so easy, and you can make it to suit your own personal taste. I eat it as a snack, or as a light lunch, either alone, on soy chips, or on cucumber rounds. I find it very filling, and it definitely has Protein in it. Here is my recipe from a local Lebanese restaurant: Hummus 1 can chick peas, drained and rinsed 2-3 cloves garlic, peeled salt to taste juice 2 lemons 2 T tahini (sesame paste, available in any Whole Foods or health store, even some grocery stores) 3-4 T EVOO Place all ingrediants in a food processor and blend until smooth and creamy. I add a little extra salt, lemon and garlic for flavor, and an extra tablespoon, or so, of olive oil to make it nice and creamy. Taste it as you make it, you can add flavoring at any point, and just whiz it in. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for a week.
chubbychecker 1 Posted February 29, 2008 I eat it with cucumber slices. Yumm! Not sure if veggies go down well after getting banded. You will have to ask that question to fellow banders. =)
Daisalana 33 Posted February 29, 2008 I've never had hummus, but our local Publix in the deli section has like 10 different good-looking 'flavors'. I thought about buying one, but I wasn't sure what hummus was, didn't want it to end up being fish eggs or something.
