My doctor actually recommended it after surgery to help with the gas and bloating, it worked miracles. So it's bandster friendly -- however when in doubt call the doc.

Sure, no problem. I only take if absolutely necessary, b/c I find it to work VERY well

I had my surgery on a Monday. I called the doc the following Saturday in tears. No bowel movement and I was miserable. He recommended Milk of Magnesia. It worked like a charm and I felt so much better. I'm three months out and now still have problems with Constipation, but it's improving. I've added three small servings of FRESH fruit to my diet. Increased my Water and exercise and sip a few ounces of prune juice at night when needed. It's helps. Also try the yogurt with the digestive goodies in it. Activia? Our local market has their own brand and it's low fat and sugar free. good luck!

First we have liquids, then soft, then solid etc but lots of Protein and much less going in, so much less coming out. All this will mess with our system and we can't always get in enough Fiber. High Protein diets will make us constipated. I am still working through this. My Dr did say I could use MOM, but I hear it's pretty strong.

I have been experimenting with benefiber in my flavored Water. I think I need to add the full recommended dose, as I started out with half the dose and yet still had to take 1/2 dose of Miralax.< /p>

I cannot taste it or see it in the Water, but it doesn;t seem to be enough.

Just keep trying things, but check with your Dr. on which things are OK.

My problem is just the opposite. I have diarreah! I had a low grade fever too. fever was gone the second day of the runs but I still have the runs. I think I just have a stomach virus or somthing, but if it doesn't clear up in a couple of days, I'm calling the doctor. I was banded 2-13-08. Has anyone else had diarreah?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
