Anyone need another fill after your sweet spot?

Recommended Posts

Hi!

I've been at my sweet spot since Thanksgiving, but am now noticing that I'm a lot hungrier and can eat a lot more. I used to only eat a few bites of something and have to stop, but now I can eat about twice what I was. For example, mornings have always been my tightest, and I used to only eat about half of a Cereal bar. Now I can eat the whole thing!

Has anyone else who was banded in September experienced this? And if so, how long did you wait for another fill?

I'm still losing weight, just a lot more slowly. And I'm SOOOO worried about stopping losing weight!! I lost ten pounds each in October, November, December, and January, but have only lost 6 pounds this month. I am THRILLED with those six pounds, but I'm so scared of the weight loss stopping! I'm eating well, just a bit more than before.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Well there are 2 things working here----one is the less you weigh the less your body burns at rest, so you have to increase your work out to burn the same calories.

And two, the more fat you lose inside, then the looser the band can become. When it gets to be too easy to over eat or you are hungry too much of the time, it is time for another small fill to get you back to the sweet spot you had.

Congrats on doing so well with your weight loss!!!

Kat

I just now got to my sweet spot with my most recent fill on Monday. Just be glad you reached yours before 5 months out. LOL Don't worry, you're doing great!

I have been at my "sweet spot" since Thanksgiving and do not need another fill. I am actually thinking about getting .2cc's taken out. I have been very tight since then...only able to eat about 3 bites of food...afraid I may gain by having any taken out. I have allowed the band to create a false sense of self-control and I am not sure that I will be able to tell myself to "stop". .2 make make the journey just a little bit more comfortable for me. As tight as I am, I don't think I will need another fill for a few months.

My last fill took me to goal and has lasted me 9 months, but has most definitely loosened off again. As long as I maintain, I will just simply eat a bit more to satisfy my appetite, but if I start to gain I'll get another fill.

Its going to be a lifetime juggling act, the band does lose Fluid and when you lose weight, you do loosen. I noticed major loosenign with even 10lb, you've done remarkably to lose so much and not need another fill.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
