Coffee drinkers?

Recommended Posts

I have been very good at staying away from soda pop. But the coffe thing has bitten me and I have been drinking coffee in the mornings and making it last into the afternoon. I am wondering if I am setting myself up for health problems, or what the original reason I stopped drinking it was. Pop I understand, bubbles. But coffee doe not have bubbles. Is anyone else drinking coffee?:confused2:

I'm pre-op and trying to get away from coffee....it's HARD!

I'm down to one cup in the morning, during the week and two on Sat/Sun mornings.....I do really want to get away from caffeine.....but it's not very much fun!

coffee is like a drug for me. I am actually drinking a cup as we speak. My dr didnt have a problem with me drinking it as long as I drink it black. I drink anywhere from 3-5 cups a day.

I drink coffee everyday- I think the point is to limit the use of caffeine-however, I do not think 1 or 2 cups a day is going to make much of difference

hollyu2-I drink coffee every single day. 1 to 2 cups in the morning made with Splenda and non-dairy Creamer. Sometimes, I will have an additional cup in the evening. I have never been told to stay away from it. I'm about to head to Starbucks now and get some...the Skinny Menu is great...sugar-free and non-fat!!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
