just wondering... are you a 'girl' T or a 'boy' T? :) (I have no idea, thats why Im asking)

I think he's a "boy" T...I have always assumed that so I went and looked, there's an ever so nicely placed "Tony" on his signature line. I hope I'm right!

Big Congrats to you BigT!!! Way to come through a surgery! Keep us posted on your progress, now. Walk and sip, walk and sip (I see that alot here, like I know) Way to go!!!!

I am a boy T lol.... I put Tony in my signature but maybe that doesn't mean much nowadays. Years ago a Y for tony mean you were a guY and an i on toni meant you were a gIrl. But now with so many creative ways of writing names that may of changed.

I did think about changing my name, but I am reserving that for a time when I meet a weight goal. Probably not my final goal weight but at some weight in between--perhaps when I am no longer obese? I will have to figure that weight out and see how far away that is.

Thanks so much for all the well wishes....I really enjoy reading them. I may of spoke too soon, as the deep down soreness is starting to set in--nothing terrible yet but just making me more aware that I had surgery yesterday.

Today as I drove thru town going to get some movies to rent- I had a revelation of sorts. As I drove thru, in my mind I was running down the fast food places and where I wanted to eat as it was after noon. I was almost mentally cherishing the thought of wolfing down some Wendy's- when it hit me--I have a new way of eating. I am eating for health and life and right now those places are not going to fit in. It was as though my brain was taking over and hadn't accepted the new changes. More probably then not, it was just old habits dying hard. But it really hit me because for the first time I cannot physically eat at the fast food places (at the food stage I am in), so it wasn't a choice-it wasn't a battle of wanting to eat something that would make me feel good or suffering emotionally as I choose a less fulfiling meal. I have a new way of life-backed up by physical limits- so I now have that lapband on my shoulder helping me make the right choices and relearning emotional eating. It was also interesting in that I was not hungry till the thoughts of those fast food places popped into my mind. Now I trully am seeing how powerful the mind is over what is apparently physical symptoms like feeling hunger. The physical conversion for a healthy life is now in place, but the mental one is just beginning........

Neat little revelation for me none-the-less.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
