Non-Scale Victories!!

Recommended Posts

Wow, Non-scale victories...I'm able to wear clothes that I had in my closet 4 year ago. Such nice outfits that I could only look at and sigh, now I can wear again. I took an hour walk with my Husband and he got tired keeping up with ME! I feel Great. Oh yeah, a great one is when a co-worker called me "Hey Skinny".

My NSV - I am going out on a date tonight and for the 1st time EVER I am not totally fixiated on how fat I am....I have a great outfit put together, and I'm going for the company, the experience, the environment and to have a great time! OMG - is this confidence?!?! I can't remember what that felt like?!?!?

What creepy SOB. :mad2:I can't wait to hear what his excuse was. Unbelieveable. Glad you at least made a night of it and got that walk in.

I had a great NSV tonite. Went shopping and bought 2 more pants in size 20. Thought that maybe the jeans I got two weeks ago were a fluke size 20. Well they weren't these size 20's fit me too.

WooHoo!!!:thumbup::thumbup:

Thanks everyone for posting your NSVs.....here's mine for today.....I went out of the house with a sleeveless tank top on and my daughter wasn't ashamed of having me near her, she even said that I looked great.....coming from my teenage daughter I was pleasantly surprised. I never thought I would see 18 (that's what I am wearing now)and now i am just starting to wear a 16. My goal is to feel good about myself by this summer when my whole family is getting together in Cape Cod. Most have only seen me in a size 24.

Keep up the good work everyone.:scared2:

Great thread!

Let's see... My favorite was that I was playing "beauty shop" with my 3 year old daughter. We put bright red lipstick on each other. It was so much fun. And my first instinct was to grab the camera and take a picture of us! I can't tell you how great it is to not find myself so abhorrent that I can't take a picture of a fun memory.

Aside from that, I've pulled all my 3x clothes out of the basement. They are horribly out of date, but I guess I'm going to have to take a trip down early 90's memory lane for a month or so. LOL! I can't justify buying clothes that will only fit for a month or so.

I can wear jeans! Elastic waist, but still, they are jeans!

I can put my socks on without having to turn sideways and put my foot up on the bed.

I can slide my wedding ring off - they had to tape it for surgery since I couldn't remove it.

I hardly get out of breath walking up the hill to pick up my son from school.

Love the band!

Fairysaddle - those ARE GREAT NSV's!!! You are doing AWESOME!!! :-)

Ang - I didn't post back here but I did on my blog, he was in the slammer :-) I did hear from him on Tuesday, did his taxes (he didn't pay me yet) and then haven't heard from him since - so things were back to good, and now not anymore....I got used for my Turbo Tax LOL!!!

Needless to say his number got deleted AGAIN...I just don't have the patience for B/S!!! He should have just left me alone to begin with but I guess he didn't want to pay H&R block!

Creeps...eh, having a great week otherwise! How is everybody???

My newest NSV's

I had 3 different guys tell me how nice I looked yesterday, 2 of which I don't associate with all the time.

Today I'm wearing a pair of misses 16 sized pants. I bought them about a week and a half ago and they were tight. Now they are just right... but the scale hasn't moved. So weird??

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
