I went through about the same thing. I was on a "see food" diet, and could not stop eating. It's a crazy frame of mind to be stuck in, huh? When I began the process, I received guidance and good information from the staff at my surgeon's office. I also went to a support group which was surprisingly positive. Then I confided to a select few friends and family what my plans were. The whole process helped me to find strength and determination to curb my tendency to overeat. My band date is March 4 and I can't wait for this tool to help me achieve and maintain my weight goals. Oh yes, another thing that helped get me on track was that I was required to loose 15 pounds before I could have the surgery. Now that's an incentive! I don't know what will be your own personal path to gaining control, but you are on the right track. Best of luck! And wish me luck too! SS

Dont worry. I went through the same thing pre-op, but have had no problems since. You just need to take it one day at a time and try to make good choices tommorow.

Ah the excitement of being a newbie!! I couldn't live without this forum and the infinite help available. I too was eating everything I wanted. I had great plans for me last meal too. Well, much to my chargrin, Dr. Ortiz's office called me one day early and said we're doing the surgery tonight and not to eat another thing past noon. Oh my it was already past noon!!! I never got that last meal. Now maybe this will tame your hunger... once banded you will lose right away BUT this will be temporary because you're swollen. It will take a proper fill to get you going. SO, if you are like me, you will be able to eat an entire zoo during the period between the swelling and the first fills. I gained every lb back once my swelling went down... for shame for shame... lol

Don't beat yourself up too bad. I did the same thing. My band date is March 4 also so , SSDown, we are right there together. But back to the eating everying I could think of. I was thinking...."this may be the last time I ever get to eat _ _ _ _"(fill in the blank). I did that with cheesefries from Outback (mmmm my fave), spicy chicken Pasta, margaritas, steak, cheese sticks from pizza Hut - I can't even think of all the things I had two weeks ago. Amazingly I didn't gain any weight those 2 weeks - didn't lose any but didn't gain any. I'm on a low carb - high protien diet for 5 days then starting this Thursday I'm on a liquid diet for 5 days till surgery date. I've already lost 5 lbs just being on the low-carb. That is great inspiration for me to stay on track now. I've been drinking all the Water required and possibly more. I'm trying to do right. So Sassy, don't worry too bad. I believe you'll get over this stage fast. It's something most all of us went through. Have faith in yourself. We are here for you !

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
