paper work submitte to UHC

Recommended Posts

The Dr's office submitted my paper work today to UHC. My insurance covers this surgery if I meet their criteria. My BMI is 39.8 weight 197 and am 4"11. I have high blood pressure and sleep ap. Do you think I'm a good candidate for the insurance to pay. I'm really excited.

I would say YES! I have UHC with a BMI over 40 and no co-morbidities and they are covering it. I was told also with a BMI between 35-39 and one co-morbidity they would cover it.

Good Luck and don't give up!

I think you have a great chance  Don't take offense to my next statement...but you're lucky for being short! My best friend is about 5" and she lost 30lbs so far and it looks like she's lost 60! Good luck to you!!!!

I would think you would be covered if you have everything in the file when they sent it in. You should know somthing within 30 days. We were approved in less than 30 days.

I have UNC and I got approved, but there was a lot of hoops I had to go through because of my Employer. I had to have 6 months of weigh ins from a Dr. and I had to get a Psych evaluation then I had to meet with the surgeon and get his approval. After that my UMH paid out.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
