Are you looking for the BariatricPal Store? Go now!

Hang tight & wait.... UGH!!!!

Recommended Posts

So I have done everything that I can possibly do, all the tests are done, psych, nutritionist, phone calls made to get any and all information that was required. Today I had my follow up appt with the nutritionist and was asking if they received the psych report. I know it will be a recommendation based on what was said in the appt but Im not a 100% certain they have it yet. Well I was told that when they have everything and the insurance approval, they will call me to schedule. I cant stand waiting. I have very little patience when it comes to these things. I realize I am not the only patient but then again.... its me and I want everything now. I read another thread on here where someone said "good things come to those who wait" blah blah blah.... lets go already, Im ready to start this new adventure!!! I have certain dates that I can do the surgery and miss work do to my court schedule and I was HOPING to do it the week of the 10th, guess thats out the window.... now Im looking at the end of March..... UGH!!!!!

Whoever you quoted "good things come to those who wait" was correct. You are very lucky if you are this far along in the process. Just be thankful that you don't have six more months in front of you on a pre-op diet and that you can at least see the light at the end of the tunnel. Good luck with your insurance approval, surgery and the journey to a new healthy you. We are all blessed to have this opportunity.

Hurry up and wait is the slogan of all medical profession patients .. hehe I have learned along time ago, bring a good book, and have call waiting/forwarding. :)

I know how you feel. I am waiting for the insurance approval...how long does that usually take? I'd like my surgery in June due to my schedule so I hope that they aren't scheduling that far yet!!! In the meantime, I am trying hard to exercise...limited...and loose my 15 mandatory pounds. The hard part to that is I just lost about 40 this year...so it is very slow...that is why I want the surgery!!

amsderb, I was told 2 - 5 days once they submit the paperwork. I guess because when I went to the initial appt, my Nurse Practioner there told me really she thought there would be no issues, based on the info she had and her experience. She said "just pick a date". So because of her attitude and even mentioning there was a possibility of doing it in Feb (my initial appt was early Feb), I am ready to go. I do realize that I am lucky since BCBS in NC is very laid back and they dont have many requirements. But, lets go lets go!! Im just so excited to start. I got them what I had to, so all the Dr's and nutiritionist need to get their paperwork done......

:sad:Lori, good luck to you...and everyone interested in this...I'm thinking this whole journey...including the wait...is to prepare us for the LIFE LONG Change of eating habit!!!

I took YEARS to decide to do this so...being in the path at this point is amazing..I can't believe all the documentation I have compiled...I just hope it is all there...I'll hear soon I'm sure. The language in my insurance doesn't become effective until SAT, March 1st...so my file will be submitted on Monday...talk about timing...bypass was covered if certain criteria was met but not lapband!!! I thought I was going to have to appeal...I still may...but at least I know now that it is an option!! Good Luck to you....

Practice your small bites and chew chew chew...not drinking with a meal is my biggest hurdle...I'm so used to trying to flood myself with Water....

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
