Swimming and Excess Skin

Recommended Posts

Hey Gang,

My wife and I are going to join the local ymca and I'm really excited because they have a indoor pool. I want add swimming as a regular excercise but since getting the band I've got ALOT of excess skin. It never bothered me before taking off my shirt in public cause I was just a fat guy with man boobs, like the rest of the america, but now, I'm a sorta fat guy with wierd lumpy rolly polly bulges with bizzare saggy flappy man boobs. Sigh, I'm proud of it, because I know what it truly means (loosing weight) BUT.. I'm afraid children are going to point and laugh at which point I'll have to bang their heads on the cement.

Soo.. aside from wearing a wet suit top in a indoor pool. (now that will look goofy) does anyone have any suggestions? What about those swim shirts, do they conceal cling?

My suggestion is.... my brother swims in a tank top he got at the BIG/TALL shop that has all those little holes in it.... It's like a mesh. Almost like you can see through it, but not really that revealing. Do you know what I'm talking about?? It gave him coverage but drains and dries quickly..... That might be an option.......

Also like this one....... Works great and much cheaper than the swim type ones that can run over $50. he has many colors to go with his swim trunks. They dry fast and he feels confident in them when he swims. They never weigh him down in the Water like a full cotton T can!!! Never sucks or hugs the body tightly.

I don't have any helpful information for you, but I have to tell you I laughed out loud at work about the heads banging on the cement!

Ditto that! Thanks for the laugh. I remember someone before who posted saying that she looked like a flying squirrell in her swimsuit. LOL!!

Attitude is everything.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
