Spinning

Recommended Posts

Does anyone else here have a spinning addiction? I think there was another thread about spinning some time back but I thought I would start a new one and see if there are still spinners out there. For me, I am totally addicted. I have taken 5 classes this week alone. For anyone thinking about try it - I was not in good shape when I started 3 months ago and was very nervous about keeping up but it worked out fine for me!

What is spinning?

It is indoor cycling on special bikes (a group fitness class) it is set to music and really fun, burns tons of calories.

i'm a spin fan. no form of exercise makes me sweat quite so much. sadly, i haven't been able to get to a lunch hour class. work keeps getting in the way and i've lately devoted evenings to tennis.

for anyone considering spinning, do go. don't be afraid, but do be prepared for your, um, privates to hurt the first couple of times. if you get into it, consider buying a pair of padded bike shorts (just don't wear undies at the same time; you'll chafe.)

am getting banded on 3/3. am curious to know how quickly y'all got back on the bike post surgery. do tell.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
