Hello:

Well, its been since Nov since my surgery. I'm doing ok but now since I a few months out I'm starting to get concerned. I been working out 4 times a week and in the last 3 week have been working with a trainer. I have been doing at least 45 minutes of cardio and 1/2 hour of weight training. I'm not really seeing a difference. I went and bought a new top but I'm still wareing a 2x thats what I started with before surgery. My pants size did go down but only 2 sizes from a 22 to size 18. I'm worried when I go back to the doctor that he will think I'm not working hard enough and eating to much. But, beleive me I am working so hard and my calories are way down. Will I start seeing a difference soon? Any advice. Thanks

marie: Did you take pre surgery measurements? And HELLO down two pant sizes is a difference. AT this point I would bet your body is repositioning and getting comfortable with it's size. I have gone through the same thing. I didn't see a weight loss but when I took my measurements I noticed since surgery I have lost 31.5 inches all over. WHOO HOO!! I would bet you are gaining muscle and will shortly start to see a drop in the scales. Some are just slow losers. Don't always use the scale to gauge your successes. Think of where you were presurgery and think of where you are now. What can you do now that you would never have been able to do persurgery?

You are doing it girl. Keep it up.

Marie, sounds like you are developing muscle and losing fat. And 2 pant sizes, excellent! What was your beginning weight and height? How much weight have you lost? You may just have less "fat" to lose than most of us do.

Mrie, I have been struggling with thesame issue. I lost 78 lbs with my band before I really started exercising, I joined a gym Feb 1st and have only lost 3 lbs since joining. I was working out 4-5 times a week and not seeing a difference, so I cut it back to 2-3 days a week and the scale is moving ever so slightly, but I am noticing a difference in my clothes sizes. I went form a 16 to a 12 very quickly, was not in 14's very long. It will happen, it is funny how our bodies work, more people have been noticing my weght loss now in the last week then before , it is because my body is shaping. Don't get discouraged, they say muscle weighs more then fat so maybe you are building more muscle, I started off with weights and cardio and was stuck but since have only been doing cardio and like I said the scale is moving agai nslowly. We can not let thescale dictate to us or discourage us, think off all of the non scale victories you have had since banding. Could it be you are not eating enough, when I do not eat 1200 -1400 calories a day my body shuts down and goes into starvation mode and every morsel of food I put in thereafter is stored . Hang in there you wil lstart to see a difference, DO NOT GIVE UP!!!

Tmarie, it's bound to be muscle and like everyone says, muscle weights more, not only that, it boosts your metab. Like Michelle said, you may not be eating enough, then your body holds onto anything it can use for energy. You're doing great I'm sure.

Marie,

I had some of the same issues. But my biggest question to you is how do your feel? sometimes it is hard for us to see our selfs as anything other than what we were. Having a lab-band provides steady weight loss. Just hold on you will be very pleased with your results.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
