Springfield Area Bandsters?

Recommended Posts

Hi Bochs,

Dr. Hammer will be doing my surgery as soon as I get my approval from Health Alliance. He does do the lap band surgery. I went to the seminar in Springfield and Dr. Hammer was actually the one doing it that day so we all got to meet him and ask questions. I am looking forward to getting my surgery done and like I said, hope to get my approval soon.

Hi Quincy girl, I have been going to Dr Hammers support groups even though I will be having my surgery in Peoria. Dr. Hammer is a wonderful Doctor and I would trust him with any surgery I had. He has pretty much done any surgery I had to have but I can't go to him because of my Insurance. I think the Doctors in Peoria are good also. At least I hope so. Well good luck to you.

Hey I am from Springfield and had my band on June 18, 2008. Went to Dr. in Peoria for Insurance reasons and have lost 19 lbs so far. Hey KZibutis. Are you related to Nancy. I took her old job at Illinois Bell. You have to be related some how with that name. Write me back and let me know.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I am looking for people in my area.

I live in Quincy and I am seeing Dr. Sidney Rohrscheib in Clinton. I did my psych eval yesterday and we are now waiting to see what all my insurance needs for my predetermination.

Hi Tracy,

sorry it took a while to respond. I hadn't been on in a while and had trouble logging in. I am 2 1/2 year out and loving every minute of it. My cousin just had Dr R. do her surgery on 2/13 and she is also doing great. Feel free to email me privately at tlbranham@sbcglobal.net. I had great success and am loving my new looks and attitude toward life.

Thanks for your reply. I cant wait to get a surgery date. The clinic will be submitting all my info in about a week. They have to get all my info together first. I am so ready for this!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
