HELP!! Think I'll Be Coverded?

Recommended Posts

I've posted this twice and I'm sorry but I am worried....

Hey guys so I was FINALLY approved and I'm STILL under my parent's insurance (24 & fulltime student) well my father's work as a stipulation that I had to be claimed on their taxes..

THEY JUST got their taxes done and they couldn't claim me so when my dad goes into work he'll be talking to them and I'll probably be dropped

My surgery is March 20th... within the 30 days of coverage... actually 25 days...

do you think my surgery will get dropped? i'm super worried:confused_smile:

I have no experience with that type of thing, but sometimes you can get Cobra coverage to etend following the end of an insurance---I know one bandster who was banded on Cobra.

Hang in there......those in the know might know how to get around this!!!

I am a Benefits Administrator, and with the companies I deal with, it has nothing to do with the taxes, some plans cover the kids to age 26 as long as they are full time students, and even cover the kids of the kid when they are still on their parents plan.

I would check with the insurance company for the correct wording. Your dad should start with the BA at work who can contact a direct rep at the Insurance company without you guys having to go through Customer Service.

Could you just have your parents file their taxes after your surgery? The official deadline isn't unitl April anyway. Just a thought because then it wouldn't make a huge difference for your surgery, especially if your dr includes aftercare in the price.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
