Recommended Posts

I'm going through a NO loosing phase and want to keep track of calories consumed both...home cooking and eating out...plus be able to change the portion amounts of the foods found in the data base.

What do you use and why? The MOST user friendly

Google brought up these in my search.

Good? Bad?

Fitday

The Daily Plate

My food Diary

Spark People

My Calorie Counter

Thank you.

I use fitday because it also helps you track your weight and activities and if you give it a "goal date," it will calculate how much weight you need to lose per week to get to your goal by that date. It will also estimate how many calories you burn for activities.

I think tracking your calories is a great idea. I just recently started tracking EVERYTHING I eat and I realized that I am eating about 500 calories more than I would have honestly thought. It's amazing how much it all adds up to be, even though I'm still in the mushy phase. Once I started eating an actual 1100-1200 calories per day, the weight starting going down again. What I estimated to be 1200 calories/day was probably closer to 1500-1800 calories.

I too use fitday and enjoy it. When I signed up they give you the option to buy the computer program for like $20 so that you can use it as a program on your PC rather than an online program. I quite enjoy it.

I use Calorie-Count.com. I can log my food (and tag things I eat on a regular basis), keep track of calories, Protein, fat, carbs etc. I can also log my excercise and keep a graph of my weight loss. It helps determine how many calories you need to consume each day to meet your weight loss goals.

calorieking.com has MANY foods from restaurants the others do not.

I personally use fitday.com but that's because I started using it in the beginning and I have hundreds of customized foods in there by now, so I kind of can't stop.

I work nights and sparkpeople doesn't work well for me as it divides your meals up into B, L, D and I don't eat that way.

I love the Daily Plate....I really never started losing weight until I started using it.

For those using the daily plate about how many calories are you averaging and still losing weight? I have to stay about 950 or I'm at a stand still.

I try to stay at 1200 calories or less each day... even with exercise. So my "net" calories tend to range about 950 or so after I get my daily walk in.

I use FitDay and I purchased the program online. It gives you a bunch of graphs and charts that are great resources in watching what's going on. I've had it about a year now and really like it.

I had fitday with downloaded program at one time. What would be truly awesome was if there was a program that would sync to one's blackberry or handheld so you always had it with you.

In the six months I was seeing a nutritionist until now I use Nutrition facts, calories in food, labels, nutritional information and analysis – NutritionData.com All I have to do is input the food I want and it gives me a nutrition label for checking out the Proteins and carbs for my Food Log. Sometimes when I'm at a plateau I'll keep a log for a few weeks to make sure I'm not overstepping my food boundaries! ;)
