Banded Feb 21st. 1 day post op.

I'm so relieved to finally have this done. I have to say that it was a bit more than uncomfortable. Where the port is, is pretty painful and swollen but for me the worst part is the nausea. I know it's important to walk but the minute I sit up I feel like I have to vomit. I hate the medicine they've given me because the pain medicine makes me nauseated and then the medicine that I have to take for the nausea makes me tired. So basically I feel like If I want to stay awake then I have to hurt as well. One thing that surprised me was the amount of pressure in my chest, It is a lot harder for me to breathe, but it's a little better today. I had a Tummy Tuck 2 years ago and if I compare the pain of the two surgeries the tummy tuck was like a 10 and this was probably a 3. But it was more painful and uncomfortable than I was expecting. It's been a day and a half since I've eaten but I don't feel hungry. I'ts nice to not feel hungry for once. Well, good luck to everyone. I look forward to seeing your progress.

I was banded 2/11. I had a lot of nausea too, but my doctor gave me medicine that I just rubbed on my wrists and it didn't make me tired. Is this the kind that you have?

I had my surgery on tuesday the 19th. I also had alot of pain in my chest. It is from the gas or air they use. Believe me it does help to get up and walk. I feel great today use some discomfort where the incisions are and the port. I even drove to the store today.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
