OMG, you are so right! I am slightly dissappointed, cause I was expecting to go earlier. But a date is a date, I am just so ready! I have been at this since October, I am just ready for it to be done! If they called me right now and said that they could band me in 10 mins, I would be there in 5!!!!

Hi all,

Wow that is great that we all are having our banding done the same day. We will have to keep in contact and see how we are doing and keep each other sane before the surgery. Are you guys scared? I'm not scared of the surgery just worried about the after. The unknown. We all need to lean on each other and get thru this. I was thinking it was never going to happen. I was all set after going through all the tests, and losing 5% of weight, and sleep apnea and everthing else they do when they found out i have a hiatel hernia so instead of getting my surgery last nov i had to get referred to a specialist but it was so worth it even if i have to drive 200 miles one way. I have to stay overnight one night because he is fixing my hernia the same day and i have so far to travel. where are you all from and do you have to stay overnight? I just counted the days, 23 . YIKES. that isnt much time . what have you done to get ready for this. I have to get my list and buy all the stuff i am going to need after just in case. good luck to us all and keep in touch.

Hi ladies. This is pretty cool. And all of us are within 9 years of one another in age. We can really be good motivation for one another!

To answer your question Kathy, I am very scared and nervous, but excited. I am the complete opposite of you. I am AFRAID of the operation (waking up, complications, etc) but, not, of the afterwards. I CANT wait to start on my new journey.

I have been walking daily for 35 minutes. I have also changed my eating habits to HEALTHY only. Ive been doing this for 2 weeks. Next Sunday, i will start my 2 week pre-op diet, which consists of 2 Meal Replacements per day, and one meal. (around 1200 calories total)

How many ponds are you ladies aiming in losing? I am looking at 140! I am trying to figure out how to make a ticker!

Oh, I also wanted to add, that I am getting my hiatal hernia fixed that same day, and am required to stay a minimum of one night in the hospital!

HI all, I am so glad my dr does not require a liquid 10 day diet but I have to do 10 days after so don't hate me yet. Can u believe it only 21 days from tomorrow. I want to lose 90-100 lbs but anything under 200 will do. I just want to be under 200 so if i gain a few lbs i wont ever go over 200 again. Let me know if you figure out how to do the ticker. I had one but now I fiddled with it and now have the shrinking shamrocks namedown and lost my ticker. Mom22b I see you are having yours done at Boston. I am at uMass in worcester. I have dr Kelly. He is supposed to be very good. How big is your hiatal hernia. i have to have mine fixed too.

Hi all, I figured out how to do the ticker thing. You go to Trying To Conceive Ticker and then click on track weight then you can pick whatever ticker you want then click on next and pick the slider thing, after you get it all done right click, copy and then go to your account, click on edit signature, right click paste and then click on save signature. I hope you can understand my directions, I'm not too computer literate.

Hi all!

Shrinking Shamrocks, I love it! My Dr. doesn't not require a pre-op diet, only day before surgery I am supposed to have liquids only, Clear Liquids. I am really finding it hard to "stay on track" & admit I have had some "not-so-healthy" things in recent days. I am trying to get out of this mental state of this being "A Last Hurrah"......... I feel like as soon as I met the weight loss requirement that I relaxed, maybe too much.

I have a feeling that a lot of what I am going through can be attributed to "Cabin Fever" I am sick & tired of the snow & cold that we are having here in Western New York, it's really not condusive to getting in some good walks! (Too icy!)

I do go to the gym 2x/ week, but it is not the same as getting outside in the fresh air. Oh well, nice weather will be here soon enough!

Staying positive is 99% of this process (I just need to keep reminding myself of that! :) )

Tara

Hi Tjveggie, Yes its hard to believe its only 1 wk away now. DO you know what time you are being operated on? I find out this friday. I went for my bloodwork and chest xray last fri. I guess its down to the wire now. I am getting pretty nervous and people keep asking me if i"m really going thru with it. Hello this is what i have wanted for almost 2 yrs. Everyone keeps saying i'm not going to like it. I look at it like its time for a change and i'm going to give it my best shot. I want to be one of these people on here that say I love my band and the only regret is i didnt do it sooner. How are you handling the nerves.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
