HarleyGirl 1 Posted February 22, 2008 After my psych evaluation, the psychologist recommended a few books for me: "When food is Love" "Eating Mindfully" and "Feeding the Hungry Heart" Have any of you read any of these? Any other recommendations for good books to help deal with the "head" issues? I'm really looking to get on the right track before I have the surgery!
Daisalana 33 Posted February 22, 2008 I have heard some people didn't like it, but the only book I read post-op was Lap-Band for Life by Dr. Ortiz. I really liked it, it was an easy read and it addressed issues I had not heard from my doc or on the forum.
kbinaz 0 Posted February 22, 2008 I liked "Love to Eat, Hate to Eat" (It's Christian, so if you are offended by that kind of thing sorry!)
Elisabethsew 50 Posted February 22, 2008 What I like doing is taking an hour to myself and stealing away to the nearest book store. I get a cup of java and spend an hour reading from the nutrition/exercise/weight loss section. I try and do this once a week... helps keep the motivation level high. steph_co 9 Posted February 23, 2008 Geneen Roth books are good (Feeding the Hungry Heart is hers). I also did start reading a book called "I Can Make You Thin," but I'm kind of stalled on that. I have a bit of an attention span problem. LOL But the author of that book is actually starting a series based on that book. I think it's going to be on TLC or Discovery or something like that. Should be coming up in March.
