MTKPNT 0 Posted February 22, 2008 Hi everyone. I have been looking/reading about being banded and have decided to try and hopefully have this done. I say hopefully because I have failed at dieting, but never went to a dietician and read that I need documented proof of failure:confused: I am , uh......fat! I have Aetna insurance, I plan to call my PCP, then AETNA. ANy helpful input would be greatly appreciated. As for the surgery, I look forward to a new lighter me and new lifestyle, I have had 2 reconstructive knee surgeries so I am over the fear thing... *susan* 1,709 Posted February 22, 2008 Hi and welcome to LBT. I am not sure of Aetna requirements, but I do know many of the insurances do require documented efforts at previous weight loss. I was self-pay, so I didn't have to jump through any insurance hoops, thank goodness. I tried every diet known to mankind and was not successful. But, the bottom line is the band is a great tool and if you work with it, it works for you! Let us know if you have any questions.
hopeinapril 1 Posted February 22, 2008 You may want to look at the insurance thread. I am with Aetna as well and there are threads there about Aetna. I would check your policy as well. (If you have a copy) I hope this helps!
