Loss of restriction day after fill

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Yesterday I had a .2ml fill and now have 6.2mls in a 10ml band. Today I feel like I have completely lost all restriction WTF?!?! I thought getting another fill would give me a kick in the bum because I found my meals were getting bigger and I was starting to snack. But today it feels like I don't even have a band. Is it normal for the restriction to sometimes take a couple of days to kick in or do you think I have done something horrible like stretched my pouch, I am also worried about having a sudden leak - what do you guys think?

Beka :)

Beka, it could be many things. Even after a fill, our tummys swell a bit from the irritation of the fill, which may make it seem like you have more restriction than you do. And for some weird reason, for many people it sometimes takes a week or two for the fill to actually kick in. I am not sure why, it just does. These bands can definitely be quirky at times. I would give it two weeks, and then if you still feel like you have no restriction, see if you can go in for another fill.

I agree. I always get tighter and tighter for up to 2 weeks after a fill. I eat normally with better restriction...then WHAM-O! PBing like crazy and can't keep anything down! I have finally(!) learned this pattern and back WAY off of the solid foods during this period of adjustment.

Also, as a side note, at this point on the path a fill of as little as 0.1 or 0.2 cc makes a HUGE difference one way or the other with my restriction. This is quite common and many people go in "asking" for an aggressive fill....then end up coming back to have it taken out. So, you are better off taking little bitty step-ups anyway. If you're still not feeling much restriction after 3+ weeks, might want to go back for another TINY fill.

Just my $0.02!
