First Fill!

Recommended Posts

Well I understand all the hype now! I got my first fill today! 3CC in my 10CC band! Woo Hoo!

It was NOT bad at all. I didn't look at the needles and was FINE. The sensation you get during the injection is a total trip too! Afterward my doc had me sip some Water to make sure I wasn't too tight. As I drank I could feel it hit my pouch, and it was the most amazing thing ever! My docs then made fun of me because I was saying "oh wow this is so cool!"

I get fill number 2 in a month and I will NOT be nervous! :):grouphug:

Hey Ting!

I must say, I am sort of disapointed now too with my fill. Not feeling much restriction any more. Someone told me to wait till morning and I will have some then, but it IS morning and I am getting liquids down fine. I did try to chug some of my Protein drink as a test, and I noticed a LITTLE back up. I suppose we need to be patient until we are on real food, because liquids probably don't get much restriction. Once we try food hopefully it will kick it up a notch! *crossing fingers*

Got my second fill yesterday, and I can finally tell that I have some restriction. I did only liquids yesterday and didnt get hungry. Today I can do mushy foods and I was only able to eat half a yogurt this morning. So hang in there it will finally come at some point. Good luck.

I just had my 5th fill and it wasn't until this one that I felt restriction. Be patient, and keep on getting fills (keep scheduling them as often as they will allow you to) until you feel the right restriction. It's a process and it can take a while.

I'm at 6.5cc in a 10cc band and my restriction is still quite low. I'm going for my 4th fill next week so hopefully that will get me to the point I need.

My Dr. only gives a slight fill the first time. He wants you to get used to some of it. Think about this, you go from eating ENOROMOUS portions of food to eating only 1/2 cup over night. I know how bad I would mentally freak out! So it's normal to not have much restriction the first time. It will come.

My doc has given me 6.5 over 4 fills so he is obviously doing the same thing. My restriction is ok but I know it can be much better so I'm hoping the next one does it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
