Surgeon's office visit

Recommended Posts

I had my Psych evaluation on 2/04. That was the last appointment I need to keep before meeting with the surgeon. It is now 2/22 and I haven't heard anything from their office. I have been referred to Dr. Cook at Hickory Surgical Clinic in NC. I know it's not been that long, but I'm SOOO anxious! How long did you all have to wait before getting the appointment to see the surgeon?

Hello

I started the process in December of 2007, and will meeting with the Surgeon for the first time on 2/28/08. I have completed the process in six weeks. I just loved the overnight sleep test!!!!!!!????!!!

I will find out on 2/28/08 my surgery date, but each hospital works differently I work 10 minutes from the hospital so I was able to get all my appointment quickly and at lunch time. Others are not as fortunate because of the hospital location.

Good luck and this is a good year to lose all the weight - like you I am so excited also 140 pounds to go. We can do it!

Hi,

My surgery is being covered by my HMO. I was referred to Dr. Matthew Lublin in So Cal by the medical group. I saw him for the first time on 12/20. He gave me a presentation about lapband surgery. At that appt. he said he would be referring me to the psych, nutritionist, etc. I finished that all up by the end of January. Now my surgery date is 3/31 and I have an appt with Dr. Lublin before the surgery date. I'd like to see the nutritionist again just before the surgery, but I don't think my insurance will cover that.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
