My doctor tells me to get Vitamins called:

VITA BAND chewable vitamins FROM "BARIATRIC ADVANTAGE".

These run about $40.00 for 180ct.

Has anyone found them cheaper? Did you take them? Do you need them? How were they to swallow? Did they upset your stomach?

Curious, and I want to know in advance before paying for them.

All I take is one a day--but don't go by me. The surgeon never stated to only take one a day--it's what I started doing post-op and haven't ever changed. :)

I take Viactive Chews. Two Vitamin and two Calcium chews every morning.

I like the chocolate Vitamins and the Caramel or Raspberry calcium chews. Makes me feel like I am getting candy and they pretty much dissolve in your mouth while you chew them in small bites. That and a cup of skim milk is Breakfast every morning and it gives me Protein and the nutrients from the chews.

I got a couple of kinds of Vitamins from Bariatric Advantage. They aren't bad but they have a funny texture that I don't like. They are chewables. When this supply is gone I plan to try capsules that are available on a website that my doctor recommended. I also got chewable Calcium from them, again, texture I can't handle, chewable Iron, not bad,

My doctor was very specific about the need for bariatric Vitamins although he didn't require a specific kind.

Just my 2 cents worth.

I too take the Flintstones chewables. The B/A drugs were talked about and they gave me a card to order if I wanted them, but also told me that the Dr. likes Flintstones "must be complete" chewable I take one in the morning and one in the evening. Just my advice, don't take the Wal-Mart off brand of Flintstones, Yuck! They taste horrible!

I used to take liquid Health that I mixed right into Crystal Light or Decaf iced tea. Since then, I have found some liquid vitamins with higher percentages of Vitamins, so I take Vital Earth or Country Life liquid vitamins. All 3 have a good taste in my opinion and can be taken alone or mixed with another drink. Avoid Centrum liquid-it tastes foul! I take liquid Calcium by the brands mentioned above as well or Viactiv chews. Look at your health food store or Vitamin Shoppe. They have a good selection these days.

I have not been banded yet (waiting patiently for insurance approval) but since I had the 6 month diet to do I bought samples of stuff to try. I got some Bariatric Advantage and they were okay, but I agree with the person who said their texture is funny. In looking around (it didn't occur to me to check children's vitamins) I came across Centrum chewables, and they even come in Centrum Silver Chewables (I'm 63). I go to the LB support group (to learn) and someone there said she didn't care for the taste. I haven't tried them yet, but got them at Target for about $10-12 , I think for 60 (can't remember--that's what happens when you get old). I also got Viactiv in the the Caramel flavor to sub for my Calcium pills which look like horse pills (Citrical +D). As my sister pointed out (she had RNY about 2 years ago) you won't be using these forever. You need enough to get you through to the point where you can take regular pills. Or do bandsters need to use these indefinitely? I am not sure about that.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
