Gurgling noises when I eat and drink

Recommended Posts

Almost everytime I eat and drink strange noises come out of my throat. I think it's my throat. I have to chew everything up to a fine mush in order not to feel like throwing up. But noises still come out. Maybe my band is too tight. What do you think?

i gurgle all the time. mostly while drinking though. it doesnt necessarily mean you are too tight.

if you were too tight, you wouldnt be able to eat or possibly even drink without PB'ing.

just a fact of life that i've learned to deal with.

Thank you so much. That makes me feel better. Thought something was wrong with my band. Although, my husband won't much like it. It makes me sounds like I'm possesed!!! :-)

This isnt too tight even if I have to stick to softer foods?

This is my favorite subject. I am actually gurgling now drinking my Protein Shake. I have been banded for over a year and it doesnt go away. My friends and family still crack up when I do it. Its just something you have to get used to. I work in customer service so I have to hope one calls when I am drinking something cuz that means I have to hit the mute key real fast or they think im burping...haha.

I have had lots of noises and weird sounds coming from my stomach and throat. I don't think it means you are too tight. It just means you are banded :smile2:

I think the gurgling is a sign that you are tight enough, not too tight. I kind of like it because it proves to me that the food is sitting there before going straight through the band! I waited a long time for restriction and am so happy to finally have it!

I started about a month ago with little tiny burps...all day long. I can just SEE it in my mind's eye....a bubble smaller than the size of a grape....it just bubbles to the surface and I feel it pop up into my throat. If I let myself do it, I could literally do tiny burps about every 20 seconds. Sometimes I forget myself and I let them "pop" and then I rembmer that it IS a burp and people can probably still hear it even though I have my mouth shut. Gotta watch that!

I seem to gurgle 24/7. It is the loudest after I eat or drink something, and is soooo embarrassing!! Someone told me the gurgling could be a symptom that my band has slipped....has anyone else heard this??

According to WLS for Dummies, the gurgling is gas and it's normal. Do you guys think that's true?

I gurgle if I eat yogurt, I think it just goes through the stoma slow, like sludge! Just drink or eat slower, that helped me.

My stomach makes lots of grumbling noises, all the time.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
