I can taste the Saline after my fill

Recommended Posts

Has anyone else been able to taste the Saline after a fill? I honestly think my doc is missing my port and just injecting the saline into my body. I have had four fills and have very little or no restriction. I can still eat basically whatever I want, including bread and I don't have to chew like crazy.

I was just wondering if anyone else has been able to taste the saline. I don't think that's normal.

BUT I am going in tomorrow for a scope they may have to take soem out

I could cry thinking about it

My weight is going down finally

I would really talk to the doc maybe even ? him you should feel some restriction after that many fills and I really do notthink youshould ever taste the saline

I can't think of any way you could be getting saline to your tongue. Actually all our body fluids are mostly saline so your saliva probably tastes just about the same. Maybe the imagination is getting a little over active? LOL

All my fills for months were going into my body (not in the band), and I never tasted it.

I think I know what you mean though, when I had IV's and they put saline in, I can taste the saline. It's in the blood. I would think the minute amount put into your body for fills-even if they injected directly into a vein, would not be enough for you to ever taste it. Maybe it's a mind game? Your body thinks you should taste it and you do?

I'd definitely mention it to my surgeon with the next fill and see what he thinks. Does he do you fill under fluoro? (Mine doesn't, but I guess some do...):tongue2:

THat is very interesting. I am thinking that you have psyched yourself into thinking that you taste saline. As far as the missing the port thing, if you have had 8 fills with no restriction, you should have your doc draw the Fluid out to see if it is even in there. Just a suggestion.

You've had four fills with no restriction and I've had five fills with no restriction yet. I think our bands just aren't filled to the place we need them to be, we just need more, that's all.

I do not taste saline.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
