Well, I like many of you have been pretty disappointed in my succcess so far. But, I think that's about to change. I've been sitting at a plateau for a month or so 27-29 poundds lost. Two days ago I finally decided to stop and give this some real thought. Maybe those 'couple' of french fries did add up. Maybe that small ice cream cone was too much. You get the idea. I guess I was trying to rationalize that I'm only eaating a fraction of whaat I used to eat. So, why isn't the weight just falling off? I've given up so much, soda, fast food, chips and crackers. So, what's the deal? Well, it's not enough. So, I have buckles down and have FINALLY dropped 3 pounds in the last 2 days and have reached my goal. I have NEVER lost more than 30 pounds at a time ever in my life and I have now hit 31. Yeah! I can do this. I just have to stop making excuses! I can do this.

Congratulations on your re-activated weight loss. I think alot of us bandsters compare what we used to eat and the quantity with what we eat now. I find myself constantly saying that I have sacrificed and give up so much food wise (although sacrifice is not the best word I could use). That bit here and there can add up if it becomes a regular thing and we don't pay attentin to it. I know I wasn't because I figured just a little bit wouldn't hurt. I have been at a plateau for awhile myself. I started really looking at what I was eating & when. Although I have been getting good Protein values and my calories were within the range they are suposed to be, my carbs and fats were still higher percentage wise. I did some readjusting (along with really trying to get in more fluid). I weighed this morning and I have lost 2.5 pounds in 8 days. This is after no movement in about a month.

As you said, it is VERY easy to discount those 4 french fries, that ice cream cone, etc. That's why I log my foods online. It has been a real lifesaver. When I fell off the wagon I could go back and tell exactly what, where, when and why it happened and there was no mystery to why I was stalled out.

That is such a good idea. I kept telling myself to write down what I'm eating. Because I cant figure out WHY I'm not loosing. I know it its probably the little extras i put in my mouth that you think it really don't count cause i only had 1 or 2.

Ho Ho! Those "little extras" can amount to HUGE caloric intake!!!! When I started logging everything I had a VERY rude awakening! If you write everything down (I like having it online because FitDay (and a lot of others) give you wonderful comparative charts and graphs to see your progress) you get hyper-sensitive to what goes in your mouth. I start thinking about what I am eating before I eat it. If I am going out to dinner, I want to save my calories that day and have something special when I go out. I keep it down to a dull roar during the day and then can eat whatever I want when I go out.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
