NSGs.....Celebrate!

Recommended Posts

All bandsters know that our weight loss journey has nothing to do with numbers on the scale. That is why we have (yipee) non-scale victories! Why do our goals find themselves on the right hand side of some bad-assed ticker software? I need to hear Non-Scale-Goals!

I had several NSG's when I began this----many of which have been successfully met.

*To eliminate some or all of my prescription medications.

this was met!

*To be able to ride my elliptical for the entire 30 minute pre programmed work out!

This was met!

*To play with, run with, generally enjoy my grandchildren.

This has been wonderfully met--today I slid down the slide in the park!

*To shop in "normal" stores.

Most stores carry 14's----there are those annoying 5-7-9 stores--but are they really for 40 somethings???

*To find my confidence again----and slowly but surely I am picking the pieces back up!

All kinds of little things, crossing my legs, soaking all of me in a bathtub (and being able to get out), giving myself a pedicure, tying my shoes on top instead of on the side! Sooooo many little things---you discover new things each day!

My pleasure Jill----you will find as the weight comes off you will find little things all along the way that you had forgotten what they were like!

I love my band!!!

seeing my collar bones.

running

walking in heels and not dying

crossing my legs

scooting the car seat forward, not hitting the gas with my tiptoes

having my DD wrap her arms completely around me

no seat belt extender on the plane, no look of dread from the person seated next to me

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
