I am SO sorry to hear that! There was a gentleman on this site about a week ago warning people about getting surgery in Mexico due to his wife having severe complications. But I don't know the exact cause.

I don't have any help to offer, sorry, but I wanted to write to express my sincerest sympathy!

Good luck.

You must have been terrified! I'm so sorry. Yes, I've heard that perforations and infections are risks associated with the surgery and they can occurr in the US as well as in Mexico. Thankfully your husband had his operation is a hospital where they had access to the ICU, vents, and advanced techniques. I hope his recovery goes smoothly from now on. Keep us posted.

Where was he banded? What was his BMI? Did he go through the 2 weeks of liquids to reduce his liver before surgery? How long after the initial banding did he become ill? Is your insurance helping with all of this? Are you able to take care of him, or is he still requiring medical supervision? What is the situation with his job? With your job? Do you have kids at home?

Sorry to seem so nosy, but if you can provide this information, we should be able to get help for you.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to imply complications only happen in Mexico, just that that was this gentleman's story. Sorry about that. :)

What a scary thing! It is a potential complication of any abdominal surgery, but no one can ever prepare for it to happen to them. Best wishes to your husband for a complete and total recovery--we're pulling for him!!

I'm so sorry for what you and your family are going through now. Keep your faith and take it day by day. Eventually the tide will change and things will get better. You did not say what Wed. days surgery was for.

Sorry to hear about your husband. My sister has had complications because Dr. nicked lymph gland, causing blood clots in lungs and leg. She has IV feeding for 10 weeks. Only sips of Water allowed during this time period. Anyone else have this problem?

thanks

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
