Hi Everyone,

I am 9 days out of surgery. Had my banding on 2/11. So far so good. I have never been part of a group like this before but reading many of the posts has been very helpful.

How long does the pressure in your chest from the band last? I can feel the pressure even when i haven't eaten for a while. I also can not sleep on my left side. The dr. said it was normal but how long will it last?

:) I'm glad to have found this site.

I'm 9 days out too. I had pressure in my chest, but the doctor told me if was due to the gas they use during surgery. I've gotten rid of it through walking.

I tried sleeping on my left side last night, it was so sore that I turned back around. I tried again this afternoon, and it seems to feel a little better.

I am new to the forums. I have my evaluations in two weeks. I would really like to find someone who has had the lapband done at Riverside hospital in Columbus, OH.

Cant wait for the soreness to be over with! Lost 13 lbs so far but only because I was on liquids...yuk!

I am new here too. I was banded on Feb 13/08 in Mexicali, Mexico by Dr. Aceves. I still have terrible gas pains. I was told to keep walking to work it out. Be careful not to swallow air when you drink, no straws and no gum. I'm sleeping in my lazy boy for now. I was told it could take a month to be able to sleep on the left side. I can hardly wait. My post-op diet does not allow any solid food for at least 30 days in order to let the stomach heal. I was also told the key is to make sure you get 70 g of protein/day and you shouldn't be hungry, so far so good.:)

It won't last too much longer!!

I was banded on Nov. 16th. The gas pains should be gone soon. The pressure is the feeling of the band sitting on top of your stomach. That last for about a month with me, but I still feel it a bit when I'm really hungry. I take that as my cue that its time to eat.

As for the left side pain, I didn't have any of that. It was sore at the incision site for a few weeks, but I was sleeping on both sides the night of my surgery. From what I have read on some posts, it seems that there may be different methods of performing the procedure. My incisions were SO tiny (about a quarter inch) except the one for my port which was about an inch wide and that one was the most uncomfortable. I really had very little pain anywhere else. The other people I have talked to from the same clinic have said the same. It will soon pass either way and you will be well on your way to a smaller you. :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
