sussexmanatee 0 Posted February 20, 2008 Hi everyone...I was just banded on Feb 11..doing great. I've lost 13lbs so far. But I am unsure of what exactly I should be eating. I was happy for the first week because my appetite was REALLY supressed, but now I am finding that I am getting more and more hungry.(hence the swelling is going down!!) I am still eating a full liquid diet..creamed Soups..low fat low salt, etc...drinking my fluids...having 2 Protein shakes a day. I am really sticking to the diet they recommend..but it's hard!! This site is new to me and I'm not that tech savy. Any suggestions or comments? Thanks!! Melissa

Elisabethsew 50 Posted February 20, 2008 Welcome, Melissa. Call your surgeon's office and explain that you're hungry. They might opt to add one or more choices to your diet. For me, they allowed 1/4 cup of ricotta low fat cheese and that was a lifesaver. My other "filler" was Tomato Soup made with skim milk for added Protein.< /span>

jennie1234 0 Posted February 21, 2008 Hi I was also banded 2/11, have not weighed myself yet but i think i have lost a few pounds. I find Fiber supplements added to everything really helps me. and low calorie rice pudding with mushed fruit fills me up for hours. 10 calorie jelly is a great snack to. it takes me 1 hour or more to drink a slim fast shake so i usually have half for Breakfast and half for dinner. and anyone with a upset stomach/indigestion,bloating should try Bio yoghurt it works straight away for me. keep up the good work guys. cierra'sgrandma 1 Posted February 21, 2008 Hi, Jennie1234! And congratulations on becoming a bandster! I had my surgery on February 6th, and have moved up {FINALLY!} to the pureed food stage. Yes, the post-op liquid diet can be difficult, especially after the swelling has gone down. I knew I could take in more when I once swallowed more than I was supposed to. That presents a little temptation there, doesn't it! Follow your diet as well as you can, and hang in there! I totally agree with Elisabethsew, that you should talk to your surgeon about your hunger. I'm sure he/she would have some great suggestions, OR he/she might have you talk to a dietician/nutritionist about your situation. Don't give up! You can do it! sussexmanatee 0 Posted February 22, 2008 I saw my surgeon today and he said that I can move to soft foods like fish, eggs, cottage cheese, etc....I bought some cottage cheese and took 4 small spoonfulls and was full!! THANK GOD!! He explained to me that the liquids won't fill me up anymore since my swelling has gone down and that adding these "heavier" foods should do the trick..so tonight I am having a small piece of cat fish broiled with lemon!! YUMMY!!!! Thank you everyone for your comments...this is a sweet web site!!!
