I had my band on Jan. 2007 and things were going great.

I went to get a fill on 2-19-2008 because I was not filling a great restriction like in the past. The doctor put in 1cc more solution but I fill no restriction.

I want to go back but don't know how to address the problem other than saying I fill no difference or maybe even less restriction.:)

This is my forth fill and the the current amount is 3.5cc

Thanks for advice

You do exactly that. You tell them you feel no restriction at all from the fill. I would call them first and have a little chat about it. My surgeon told me that sometimes the first one or two fills feel like nothing's changed and you continue to go back until you feel something. They don't and shouldn't fill you aggressively as that would lead to a lot of complications that you really don't need. So it's not uncommon for them to be a little conservative.

I don't know what size band you have, but it seems that those with 10cc or 14cc bands require more frequent fills. I have a 4cc band and have had 3 in total since July 2007. Each fill gave me good restriction. It lasted until I lost weight and the band loosened up.

Don't be discouraged that it feels like nothing's happening. It's only the first fill and you may not even feel anything after the second. But it'll come. Slow and steady. :)

Im in the same situation. I had my surgery 12/3/07, first fill 1/4/08, 2nd fill a week later and 2 more fills since then. I'm going back on 2/29/08 for another. I suggest you do your next fill under the x-ray so your doctor can see why your not filling to stop your hunger. That is what I'm doing. I want to know why I can eat more than others. I'll be happy to find out why too. Good luck.

Debbie

I had my surgery on Jan 4th and had my first fill Friday the 15th. He put 4.5cc in my 10cc band. I feel slightly less hungry than before, but still growling.

I called my doctor's office and she said if I'm hungry, I should get a fill. I'm on hold now, waiting for my appointment.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
