I went to mexico and had a great time. They met my plane and took me to a very nice hotel and the next day to the hospital. The hospital was VERY nice, much nicer than the ones here. I loved Dr. Zapata and I have had no problems of any kind. No trouble finding a fill doc here either. I hope every thing goes as well for you. Donna

I am scheduled to get my lap band surgery done by Dr Huacuz on March 28, 2008. I will be going down with a small group of other people also interested. When I was doing all my research I came across a patient coordinator that made all of the arrangments for me. The cost of the airfare was included, so the total cost of my package was $7500. This was a nice option for me, because I don't want the people close to me to try to talk me out of getting the lap band, but I also thought that it wuld be great to have the support of other people in the same situation.

I would strongly recommend that you check around your area for places that do fills through fluoroscopy. We only have one place in my area that does them and they will not do them on patients that were banded in Mexico. I guess I would rather go to Mexico to have my fills done under fluoroscopy for $150 than have to have multiple fills here in the states for $300 a piece. Who knows I could grow to enjoy the mini vacations too!!:tongue2:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
