I had my surgery done at the University of Pennsylvania in Phila., PA by a Dr. Noel Williams. It was a fabulous experience. Everyone was and is so good to you. All pre-op testing and procedures were a breeze and I have nothing but good things to say post-op. Am a little nervous about having my first fill in a couple of weeks but I'm sure everything will be fine. I have lost 15 lbs to date and was told yesterday that i would probable start loosing about 2 lbs a week from now on (maybe more after my first fill). I start back on "real" food tomorrow but i'm not giving up my "soups". They seem to fill me up the best! I hope everyone has the same great results as myself. Good luck to all!!!

Hello and welcome. You sound like you are doing very well so far. I remember being terrified prior to my first fill, I had myself so worked up it was ridiculous. Then, after I had it done I realized it was not that big of a deal and laughed at myself for stressing so much about it.

As for losing the 2 pounds a week, that is pretty close, the band is designed for us to lose 1-2 pounds a week. Some lose more, some lose less. Just don't be disappointed if you do not do that right away. It is important to remember the band is designed to work by getting it filled. Until you reach proper restriction, it is possible that you may not lose, or even gain a bit. But, if that happens, don't get discouraged, once you reach your sweet spot, the weight will start coming off.

Best of luck to you.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
