but oh so cool at the same time. I am still on the pre op weight loss bit, but the rate I am loosing and such, well I think by the time my surgery date (NOT scheduled YET... :cool2:) rolls around I will have officially disqualified myself. That would suck majorly. But at the same time I am dancing around seeing the scale down another 5lbs (well it was more, but I don't count PMS weight).

I mean its cool and all that the pre op diet is working (not hard core diet just changing little things, and upping my exercise) but at the same time, I don't want to disqualify myself. LOL

I mean how trippy is that, all my life this has NEVER worked for me but now that I am doing it so the nutritionist will get off my ass about my food diary its working ... GAH ...:thumbup:

My doctor told me to lose all the weight I wanted that he was going to use the weight from my first appt for insurance.

My doctor told me the same thing, The weight at your pre-op appointment is the weight they use for their records. The more you lose pre-op the less you have to lose after the surgery. And just think, the band will not let you gain it back.

Good luck!

Well technically my paperwork wont be submitted through the insurance as I am getting it done through the Army Hospital. It is up the the surgeon and his "team" to say yes or no. The team leader is a right nasty piece of work. She barely covered the lap band in her introduction and she is really pushing the bypass.

So if I loose to much they wont do it. *sigh* so for me its a rock and a hard place. I am THRILLED the scale is moving, but if it moves to much in that direction then they wont do it.

That sucks. We all have so many different insurances and requirements that it's really hard to compare stories of preop.

I really don't like when the doctors push one surgery over the other

Army medicine has their own rules. It is a bummer. Are you eligable for TriCare?

Because they do the band at the hospital and its literally just up the road, no I can't get a referral out. Trust me if that was the case I woulda referred out a long time ago LOL

I am tri-care prime though, sooooooo

But in the end, I mean really if I do wind up disqualifying myself is that really a reason to BM&G?? I would still be loosing the weight, (and by gawd it wont come back this time EVER) I just wont have that extra kick the band will give me to do it ya know?

(I try to not get worked up over stuff that is just not worth it)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
