FILL # 8 hurt like HELL!!

Recommended Posts

I'm hoping that this fill is "the one". I hate having to drink Soup for 2 days. Has anyone got any soup ideas? I really have to share with you my latest fill experience with you. My Dr. waits to give me pain in my stomach like you wouldn't beleive. He stuck me 5 times with that super long needle before deciding to use fluro on me ."5 TIMES". I was so outdone! I hope that i don't need a fill for a long time!!:lol:

My dr don't beleive in telling his patients how much of a fill he is giving, so i don't know! I can tell you this is my 8th fill ,I was banded 9/5/07 and i only lost 30lbs.And I HATE TO EAT Soup FOR 2 DAYS AFTER FILLS!!

I'd make a big pot of lentil soup & let it cook all day to get soft. After my fill, I always pull a frozen container of them out and eat on them for 24hrs. They're filling & a good source of Protein....

You doctor does not have the right to keep details of your treatment from you. I wonder why you need 8 fills. How much does he charge per fill? Are you paying or is your insurance paying?

I would get a different doctor, one who would see me as part of the team taking care of me.)

That is exactly what I said, But I just don't want another Dr that could be worse.I guess if I demand to know he would tell me,but I shouldn't have to do that!

Sorry to hear about this! I'd look for a new fill doctor or get super assertive and DEMAND to know what your fill it. That is ridiculous. But, here is a Soup recipe that I started making when I was on Atkins. I make it all the time now and company always wants the recipe. It's fast and low calorie/low carb.

1 bundle asparagus (about 3/4-1 lb), cut into 1" pieces

2 leeks, chopped and washed well (white parts only)

2 cloves garlic

2 Tbl butter or olive oil

16 oz chicken stock, low sodium

1/3 cup cream

salt & pepper to taste

Melt butter and cook leeks for about 3 minutes. Add garlic and asparagus. Cook another minute. Add stock, cover and cook 10 minutes until asparagus is tender but not mushy. Put into blender and blend until smooth. Return to pot. Stir in cream, salt, and pepper and warm through.

This is a pretty big pot of Soup and I make it often. My whole family loves it!

Redgirl,

I was banded 02/02/07 and have had a total of 12 fills. None of them have been as painful as you describe. My doctor does not use fluro he only pokes once and gives very small fills. He also is not big on telling his patients how much of a fill he gives or how much is already in your band. After about my 8th fill he did share with me how much he was putting in the band.

To give you an idea of how small the fills are, like I mentioned above I've had 12th fills and I have 4.5ccs in my 10 cc band. I've never had to have an unfill and the weight loss is slow, but its worth it. I've lost a total of 40 pounds and just in case your wondering my fills are covered by my insurance.

Hi Dori Can I ask you how much your Dr. is charging for each of those fills?

Kind of feels like he could be milking your insurance co.

My doctor actually sees me without charge for the first year. I only pay a small co-payment. Now that my year is up my insurance will need to authorize additional visits, and I believe each visit is billed at $150.00 and he is paid a percentage of that based on his contracted rate. Each time a payment is made to your physician, the patient should receive an EOB (explanation of benefits) explaining what has been paid out.

I guess I should be thankful my Dr is a bit on the aggressive side (if we want of course) on fills. I always make sure they withdraw the amount that was in the last previous fill *to check for leaks* and know how much they put it (usually .2cc to .5cc).

Rharriet - that Soup looks GREAT!!!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
