Help please, I just PB'd on

Recommended Posts

sushi, too much in a restaurant, too busy talking. It wasn't much, but I don't want to get into a viscious cycle again. SHOULD I GO ON liquids NOW AND IF SO, FOR HOW LONG? IF SO, CAN I DO Protein Shakes OR DO I HAVE TO BE ON CLEAR?

Hope to hear from someone soon. Thanks.

Karen

Hi Karen, one of my worst PB's was on sushi ( california roll)

I know Dr. Ortiz reccomends liquidsfor 24 hours after a PB

If you are a sushi fan, just a little tip..when orderingany kid of roll ask them to make it with rice paper instead of using the seaweed, it is sooo much easier to chew and you will not notice a diference in taste one single bit.

Hi Karen,

Oh, wow, I totally know how you feel. The very worst PB I ever had was on seaweed from a sushi lunch. It was horrible! I hope you're feeling better now. :)

Liquids after a PB isn't the same prescription as liquids after surgery. You just want to be careful to keep your esophagus quiet for the next couple of meals and eat only the softest of mushy foods or stick to Soup. If you go right back to eating solid food you could exacerbate any irritation that the PB caused, which could just make the situation worse. Take care!!

Thank you Alex. I had a Protein shake for Breakfast, will stick to liquids today & have chicken Soup (minus the chicken) tonite. Tomorrow I'll do yogurt drinks & sweet potato & such & should be o.k.

However, I did have trouble swallowing my meds this a.m. I think I should have waited till later in the day to take them--between a.m. restriction & pb'ing last nite, it was a problem. Speaking of meds, I get really bad cramps once a month--I've always taken tylenol & advil for them, sometimes every 4-6 hours for 2 days. Dr. Martinez did say I could take some Advil liquid gels, but I don't think he meant that much. Should I ask my Ob/gyn for something liquid? Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks,

Karen.

Karen, if there's not a liquid alternative, you can dissolve most meds. in a large spoonful of Water, then wash it down very well afterwards. Or just breaking them in half might be sufficient.

You'll be fine. Glad to hear it's over!

With regard to meds, you may have trouble taking pills from time to time. If your doctor said Advil was OK to take for occasional pain, there's no difference if it's a liquid or a pill of some sort. Whatever is easier for you to take is fine. If you can stick to Tylenol in the future you might want to try, though--Advil is ibuprofen which is not advised for bandsters. It's one of the NSAID category.

I went to a sushi restaurant and they had a dish where the fish was layed on a bowl of rice, instead of being in rolls or nigiri style. This way I was able to eat the fish, and have as much or little rice as I wanted. Unfortunately I don't remember what the dish was called (to know how to suggest ordering it), but there was a description listed to say that's how it was prepared.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
