Harvard Pilgrim HMO

Recommended Posts

Hello All-

I have another post about my obsession with getting Lap Band surgery - I guess as this is my third thread on different topics - my obsession is obvious. I am one week from my first appointment with the surgeon and nutritionist (the adminstrative assistant in the office is a gem- she set up both for the same day) and am fairly freaking out already - I cannot imagine what I will be like when I am actually waiting to get approval from the insurance company.

I have Harvard Pilgrim HMO and the administrator mentioned that it was not one of the harder companies to get approvals from - is there anyone on here who has had a recent approval or denial from Harvard Pilgrim HMO or would share any information about your experience with this company. I would be very appreciative and could maybe think about something else for a few minutes!!!!!!!

:(:unsure::laugh:

Hi Aquameliza:) I have Harvard Pilgrim HMO, and have had a wonderful experience with them! I was approved for Lap Band in one day:) I also talked to another lady on here that was approved in 4 hours, and that is also the experience of a coworker. As always there is a disclaimer with my experience... because everyone is so different, but in general they have been quick to approve if you pass the general Lap Band guidelines:) Hope this helps! Best of luck to you on your journey! ~Kerri

      Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

        As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

        Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

        Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

      Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
