Brown Bag'in It

Recommended Posts

Okay, so as a school teacher I have 24 min. to eat my lunch. Actually more like 15 min after I drop the kids off and go back to pick them up. I seem to always get stuck at lunch because I'm trying to scarff my food down and that just doesn't work with the band.:tt2: Any suggestions for an easier lunch that is healthy but that can be eatten quickly?

I found the same thing when I was out on teaching rounds this year - not qualified yet. But eating in the staff room in front of other people I dont know and being under pressure to eat fast and get out and do yard duty some days, eeek. I stuck with Soup or yogurt!

I didnt even attempt to eat what I would anywhere else. Also, I'd gone all morning without eating since Breakfast and for some unknown reason that makes me tighter. This year when I go out on rounds I will be sure to take a mid morning snack as well.

When I was a school counselor and on a short break, I opted for a Protein Shake. I actually put an Atkins shake in the freezer at morning recess and it was icy and delish when my lunch time came around. I made sure I also had a little something at morning recess and afternoon recess so I wasn't starving. That worked for me. It takes planning, but it got pretty easy!

Hey girl!

How ya been doing?! Is that you in the photo?! You look great!

I asked my doc on the phone when I made an appt. so she said to stick to Protein Meal Replacement bars or shakes. So I'm going to try that. I found these really nice cottage cheese and fruit combo thinggies in the yougert isle that I eat for a snack that give me some good Protein.< /p>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
