Hello from Texas!

Recommended Posts

Hello, I am a new lapband patient. I had the lapband on Friday, February 8,2008! I used Dr. Adam Smith in Fort Worth, TX. My sister and I are taking the journey together, she had hers done the day before mine. So far everything has been going good. I have lost 13 pounds since starting the postop diet and the surgery itself. Its a great head start for me and I am very excited that I took the leap ahead and gathered the courage to do this for myself! If I can answer any questions for anyone, just ask! I wish success to all!

Congrats on your scheduled surgery with Dr. Spivak. He did a great job on me. I also was very comfortable at the hospital and the staff was very helpful answering all my questions and checking on me after surgery. I had to be at the hospital at 7:00am check-in and had the surgery, recovered in my private room after and was out by 5:30pm. I could have stayed longer, but I was ready to go home and continue to recover in my home. The first 2 to 3 nights were a little hard for me to actually sleep. I found out that taking the pain meds right before I went to sleep worked best for me, but I still would wake up in the middle of the night to take it again when I stared to feel a little pain.

Please feel free to e-mail me any time if you have any questions!

Best Wishes,

Vanessa

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
