Hi I am a newbie in my pre-op diet stage, will be banded on 2-25-08

Having trouble with pre-op diet, I do fine during day with my 2 slimfast optima drinks but at night I want to eat everything I see. Please tell me I'm not alone.

Hi Neighbor!

I'm not yet approved for lap band surgery but just wanted to say hi! Finding this site has been one of the best things EVER! All of the info and support you get is just amazing.

Who is going to do your band? I may have to come down to New Orleans to have mine, but i'm hoping i can get it done in Shreveport.

Good luck on your pre-op diet.

WELCOME!

You are not alone! Maybe try a different drink that satisfies you more.

Drink Water - crystal light - or something similiar low calorie.

Best wishes!

Thanks, It is just so hard, here in South Louisiana everything is planned around food. Dr. D.P. Schwab in Houma, La. is doing my band. He and I have been talking about this for a year. He did my nephew who lost 85lbs in 6 months and he has the same eating habits as I do. So he is convinced I can do the same But this pre-op is killing me, real hard at night, I want to eat everything in the house. But I made a promise that I will stick hard till my band next Monday the 25th

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
