Cindy - I could have gone back to work within a couple days but then I sit all day. Would it be possible for you to bring in a bar stool or chair with wheels to sit on while you work? And if washing someone's hair is too much for you would there be anyone else there willing to do that portion for you?

I'm from the KC area myself, small world.

I was so glad to hear your surgery went well, I'm from the Lake of the Ozarks area and just got my surgery date for April 8th. (Goin to Mexico) I am just wondering do u think u will feel like going back to work 1 week after surgery? I am a hairdresser and that is what my plans are.....do u feel like it is possible? Thanks:confused2:

Ok, I am exactly one week out. I could easily have gone back to work today. I'm still taking another week mainly because I can but I can pretty much do everything, just slowly, You might not want to schedule a full day of appointments but you should be able to do some.

Good luck!

Okay so February is the start of my new life! Only problem is I am eating already after two week check-up. My doctor said soft foods but I am eating normal food with no problem. Which is a problem because I am afraid I have screwed it up now. Any suggestions.:smile2:

Well, I'm finally banded!! Everything went great with no surprises, thanks to Dr. Schmitt and the great staff at St. Vincents East in B'ham, AL, AND thanks as well to everyone on here that shared their stories and information. I really believe that reading the forums here made me so much more prepared for everything that went on.

No problems to report, other than I underestimated folks when they talked about pain from the trapped gas...once that is gone though, I will have no issues to complain about!

Again, thanks everyone for sharing and helping others be prepared.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
