HappyOne 0 Posted February 16, 2008 Hi everyone. I had my surgery at about 1pm this afternoon. I was scheduled for 3:00 but got a call at 11:15 asking me to come on in, they were running ahead of scheduled. I was also the last surgery for them for the day. Got there at 12:00 and did all the required paperwork. They took me back pocked me 4 times to try to get the IV line in until the anesthesiologist came back and did it on the first try. Vitals taken, twilight added and I was wheeled surgery at 1:00. They had me out and in recovery at 1:45. Didn't have any trouble waking up, very like pain - mostly just discomfort as everyone else has indicated. Didn't need any of the pain meds. After about 30 or 45 minutes they had me walk to the xray room for the barium xray. That stuff is nastyyyyyy. Then I went to the recliner. At the center I used, I'm not sure why it's call a recliner because it doesn't recline. It was not very comfortable. I only had one real bout of nausea - which turned out to be a burp - but they gave me phenergram in the iv and it went away really quickly. I left the surgery center at 5pm and was home by 6. Doing okay for now. just a bit sore but nothing too bad. I had a c section in 91 and this is a piece of cake compared to that. Thanks to everyone who posted their experiences because it made today a whole lot easier for me.

jnbwilds 0 Posted February 17, 2008 Congratulations! Welcome. Stay rested - days 2 & 3 after surgery were the most tiring for me. Gas tip - if you get big bubbles (pressure in your chest), try laying on your left side, slightly inclined and those bubbles should pop up through the band. I impressed my husband with my burbing abilities during the first week! For all who are nervously waiting their surgery - be encouraged - it's not bad at all!! pmcdaniel 0 Posted February 17, 2008 :crying:Hi, There has been some kind of error , I am receiving e-mail notifications that sounds like I have already had surgery. I am not due to be banded until 10 March 2008. I think you all are intending your post to go to Happy one, subject -banded today . I am trying to find out all info on what to expect and any other tips I can get. Any and all info would be appreciated. I have a lot of co morbidities such as sleep apnea, diabetes, high blood pressure, high colesterol, I have to sleep with oxygen. I would like to get a life back. I still work but it is getting harder every day. I have been trying to get to where I am at for 1 and 1/2 years. Every corner I turned I had to have some more test done. I feel as if I have had a very thorough going over. Now that the time is getting closer I am anxious but nervous. how about you people that have already been through this. Any comments on your experiences from recovery to food tips.

It has been a bit of a challenge getting them through the band. I found that if I stood up and straightened as much as possible that helped some too.
HappyOne 0 Posted February 18, 2008 Thank you all for you good wishes. I am 2 days post and feeling a little more alive. Yesterday was pretty trying, no real pain just a lot of discomfort, unable to get comfortable, sore back and shoulders because of the way I was getting out of the recliner. There were a couple of times yesterday that I questioned if I made the right decision. Today I haven't thought that at all. Today I still have a little discomfort on the left side especially when I stand straight up. I have to move a little slowly and tire easily. One of the main problems I have is remembering to drink the broth. I made a short trip to a local restaraunt with my parents and daughters - total of 45 minutes or so and had to come back and sleep. I'm supposed to go back to work Tuesday but may decide to stay out an additional day or 2. Good luck to everyone who is scheduled for the coming week.
